Hey guys .. I want to open GIA with UOB. My only question is, are we allowed to perform all buy/sell transactions through their internet banking? Maybank doesn't have that functionality.

UOB bank. From my starting capital that enough to buy 500gm earn until enough to buy 2kg now.

Its time to sell some before gold meet another correction. UOB buying rate today should be around 165 and sell at 167.

2kg of gold?? That's ≈ RM 300k!! Are you still holding gold? Aren't you worried it might fall again? Wouldn't it be safer to put it in ASB?

Are you serious? So public bank is the only bank that provides online buying and selling of gold?

Btw, is there anyone who is experienced in ETF gold trading?

Is PublicBank the only bank offering online gold trading? This is really crappy service!! Why can't all the other banks upgrade themselves a bit ..

Can anyone recommend a few gold ETF that I can buy? Popular ones with high trading volumes.
Thanks.

How many of us are having these GIA accounts?
Maybe we should all write a feedback to UOB (or other banks) and pressure them to introduce online trading!!

Is there anyone who is an expert (or know 1 or 2 about ETF)??

Both GLD and DGP follow the gold price movement. However, 1 is priced at 159.26 while the other is 52.04.
Is there any benefits of buying GLD instead of DGP?

Buddy, if you can convince UOB Bank to implement online trading that will be fantastic! smile.gif
We all should submit a general letter to UOB. Spam their e-mail account!!

if we want buy from them, we should see their 'sell' right?

i didn't know bank sell expensive, and buy from us 'low'.

Errr .. Sorry, I just don't think you can be a businessman.

Selling price is always higher than the buying price. It's the same with FOREX when you need to buy foreign currency to travel.

Imagine if the bank sells low, let's say 160; and buys high say 165.
Then, anyone with a little bit of financial intelligence would keep buying from the bank at RM 160, and sell to the bank at RM 165, earning RM 5 per unit.
If he keeps repeating this process, the bank keeps losing RM 5 per unit until he goes bankrupt!! I know Maybank is stupid but can't be stupid-er than this!!

Also, just to clarify so that you don't get confused ...
when the bank says 'buy' or 'we buy', the we means the banks, not you!!

So when you see the buy price, it means the bank buys.
When you see the sell price, it means the bank sells!!

For those who are GIA accounts, can we transfer Gold units (in g) to 3rd party?

For example, I want to give a few grams to my brother, can I transfer to him??

Also, can GIA accounts be close in any branch, or must it be home branch?

Added on January 20, 2012, 1:56 pmIs there a shop in M'sia that trades physical gold bars or coins?

TSOM, can you be more specific?

Incidentally, you may want to read the article below to understand at what month the gold will reach a new high.

Sorry ..
Because ppl have been telling me to buy before CNY. And since CNY is tomorrow, I wonder if I can buy some during the week. Maybe it's not a good idea, I don't know.

As mentioned by many fellow experience gold investors, you are suggested to purchase gold ANYTIME when you have money smile.gif My friend told me that gold price will increase shortly after CNY. Just take his word with a pinch of salt.  hmm.gif

There seems to be some truth in it. It has happened in the past few years.
