haha. reading this topic is fun, altho in reality, this cheating trend is worrying. it seems most of the forumers here kena tricked b4.
i too learned a lesson and has since stayed away from most all those easy works as advertised in newspaper. 1k/mth is tempting but the fishy smell is just too much to bear.
but i also almost kena b4. the comp was near KLCC, in some promenade office building just behind the OSK. i tagged along with a fren for the job of IT Researchers. the interview was conducted for both of us together and was confimed on da spot. told to return the next day and will be given 1 week training. until completion of training, no salary was to be given.
so the 'IT' job revolved around studying the fundamentals of sorts of equity market investment- those involved coffee bean, sugar and some other stuff. the training was fun but when the week ended, the supervisor did not mention anything about our completion of training, confirmation, or abt $$$. so, sensing sth amiss, i left at the end of the training week. my fren and acquaintances who stayed back later revealed that when they confronted the supervisor, were informed they each need to bring in RM10k (if i'm still remember it correctly) investment before rightfully deserved to be paid monthly salary.
this type of cheating was very hot back then in 1999. few of my frens also almost kena. this investment company thing was highlighted in newspapers as well.
but now i dunno if those are still active, but whenever u encounters adverts like below, beware!
job: it researcher/mgmt trainee/marketing executive/all kind of executive la.. xp: no need. freshies very welcomed to kena conned.. edu bg: no need also. if got, very hard to kena conned.. job desc: 5 days work, salary between 1.5k and above, training provided..

risk management sounds just like my equity investment stuff only. investment= risk.

and now, that is why i choose to donate directly to those charities. altho my donation might be lost within the donation board itself, at least i have eliminated those middlemen!

haha. how clever for those companies to move away of being labelled MLM eventho they are really MLM. now they associate themselves as network marketing, at least for now coz no one has mentioned N/w marketing negatively yet.
surely after n/w marketing concept enlisted in the blacklist, they'll gonna come up with another concept for their line of work. laterall communication marketing?

interesting to know that history repeats & ppl nvr learn.
there have been too many similar posts of all the cheats. yet till today we can still read situations that previously have been discussed here. seems like ppl nvr take heed of all the advice.
anyway, i think this is what made this thread going & inreresting!

QUOTE(hans.excel @ Jun 22 2006, 10:44 AM) any recruitment company that requires job seekers to pay upfront before they get them the job must be avoided at all cost... generally i can concur, but i beg to differ. i was required to hand in a token sum as a deposit in case i cabut after signing the employment contract. i was taken aback then but felt it was not a cheat, judging by the business they are doing. so i tested my fate and got back the deposit. and now enjoying a very compensating work environment. however, the moral of the story is do observe and make ur own judgement.
