Guys, remember i have posted about the questions on whether to get Monster Beats or Audio Technica? I just went to Jaben today and tried few models of headphone and finally able to judge myself which is more suitable for me...honestly, Monster Beats really really dissapoint me to the max...the first headphone i tried was Beats Studio which is rm1700..after that every headphone i test were better than the Beats...i tried Audio technica, AKG, Klipsch, Denon, n few others..finally i came to decide between audio technica and klipsch, audio technica has outstanding clarity while klipsch has awesome bass...but ES7 has better outlook...so im really happy with this new toy now smile.gif , and the sales person in Jaben is very friendly and provide good services, i highly recommend those who going to get their headphone have a visit at Jaben...anyway, a question to ask, how to burn for 200 hours as the peole there recommend me?

Play any song for 200 hours. Play every different genre of song for better result. Make sure let your headphones rest for awhile and then keep going.

well it takes hands on approach to know that we're not lying tongue.gif

you can burn in by running pure sine wave, pink noise, or just playing your favorite music whenever you are not using it smile.gif

i burned my headphone that way... non stop playing music

of course, there's like few seconds of pause after each song

however, i purposely give it a few hours rest every 100 hours or so tongue.gif

well you can leave it running at normal listening volume, or SLIGHTLY higher, but dont put max since you might damage the driver doing so

Well... i agree with you, Beats is a 'Monster'.. not everyone like 'Monster'... too much 'Monster' bass.. good for Hip hop though...

Congrats on ES7... even myself still cannot afford this one but will always in my wishlist. brows.gif

Jaben is the best... their bear is the symbol for friendly and hospitality services. But not hug-able biggrin.gif

lols burn-in are not meant to be abused... force burn-in because of greed and wants things to go fast will not bring good results.

some good stuffs needs patience... burn-in is one of them. never force burn-in by abusing 24h nonstop burn, you'll overwork the drivers causing not so pretty sounding headphones compared to properly burnt-in headphones under given same time

i dont know about other headphones, but mine has been burned in continuously for hundreds of hours and they still give the same sound as others tongue.gif... tho i do take some precaution and keep my fan turned on just so the ambient temperature doesn't "damage" the drivers, and the can is always at listening volume which is 35% in foobar tongue.gif well, my own opinion tongue.gif

the purpose of burning in is so that the diaphragm gets to the point it should be, like breaking in new shoes lidet~

get it smile.gif so i'll just burn in slowly and naturally...btw how about amplifier? i saw many people in Jaben trying so many types of amplifier, out of curious i asked the staff to take an amplifier (price rm200) for me to try but i can't feel much different as the amplifier is more to clarify and smoothens the music, and since the ES7 is already crystal clear enough for me i just hear some slight different in the background music..

is there any amplifier that can tighten the bass? it will be great for my ES7 tongue.gif

Maybe you will need some times before you can really hear the difference with amping on your headphone because maybe you haven't really gotten used to the headphone.
IMO, you should stick with your headphone for awhile before getting an amp. And at the same time, read up on various brands and models of amps. And audition them at Jaben from time to time. thumbup.gif

i purposely went to jaben to test out the difference

for ms2i, i find minor differences, such as sibilance being less harsh on a burned in unit

ES7 is supra-aural headphones, which mean they wont block noise from outside as much as circumaural headphones do.

Added on November 13, 2011, 4:35 pmi've asked in the amplifier section and they recommend me the fiio e11 and hippo box+ that can tighten the bass of my es7...what u guys think? if still not much improvement on the bass after i have burn in for sometime then might consider buying an amp..

If u want to add more bass can try the Hippo Box+. It will make the mids fuller and add the amount of bass when both boost and bass button are on. Fiio E11 is more neutral and not as fun sounding as Box+.

Best is to audition those brands mentioned. Unless you want to gamble on it.

For "cheap" amps, Hippo Box+ and Govibe(dont remember the name) are not bad for ES7. Cant comment on Fiio products as their sound is not my cup of tea.

I have ES7 and still I cant say which is better. The best is to audition.
Different ears different brands.

Tested alot of 200-600 budget amps, non satisfies my ears. ES7 can be very bright on certain amps. Some can give you bass but it can also brighten it until became digitalized+sibilance. Some give you loads of bass but you might need to sacrifice the clarity and might became muddy.

I've started off with Govibe Single and then Hippo Box+. Both amps are good for new ears.

You can try JDS Labs cMoyBB which I'm using right now. You can read it out first. Its not your commercial amps.

do you find the ES7 bright? if you do, get mini^3. if you like the brightness, get cMoy.

cheap and good.

Fiio E6 is pretty affordable, and for bass boosting it done quite a nice job for an amp of its price, still its more towards muddy bass instead of punchy one

Last time i tried e6,the improvement on the sound not realy noticeable, then i end up with e11,the bass was abit punchier than e6,but if got chance sure i will trade in my e11 with hippo box+,the bass on hippo had much more punch.

the es7 is already good on it own. like noobandroid mentioned when paired with the jdslabs cmoy. really nice sound. more palette than my (was) ms-1. You still get that punch and a good bass plus snares are more tighter with it.

If you crave more bass, forget any amps. Just save or trade up to the ESW9. You won't regret it.

But it is not like the ES7 (bright) but it is very much more musical and thick. The clarity will not suffer though because it is pretty much crystal clear. =D

It also sounds way better than the Beats and most likely Fanny Wangs as well.

From: Friendly ex-owner or a ESW9
IMO, it's one of the best headphone ever.
Losing out only to STAX and PS1000, but that's my opinion la. Most people won't agree with me, haha!

again, today i went to Jaben again to buy amp for my es7...i tried hippo box+ as u guys recommended, den fiio E11, Govibe martini (around rm400+), and another brand i forgotten (also 400/500+)..all have their own good i can say...but still hippo box+ satisfied me the most...fiio is not my cup of tea i guest..den the govibe and another one produced great sound, but still the bass is not enough for me, anyway they perform very well in clarity and the details..

so the final choice is my new red colour hippo box+ biggrin.gif
get it for rm200 since i bought this ES7 from jaben not long ago..

cables from your source to amp plays a role in sound. you might find it ridiculous, but when you actually hear sounds through better made cables you will be amazed. really.

for your case, an Audio Technica, I know exactly what kind of cables to tone down the harshness and brightness of sound and give a little more bass and extend a little at the lower frequencies.

quality cable is important, doesnt have to be very expensive but, it is important.

i can give 2 examples. when i bought my first hifi set 3yrs ago, i used a rm5 rca cable, the bass sucked, sound was thin, sounded noisy overall. i tot i made the biggest mistake of my life. then i bought a qed rca and i was like gosh, the noise is reduced, bass has body and extention.

2nd example is more recently, i bought a subwoofer and i used a rm5 rca again while waiting for my monoprice rca. i tot my sub was broken, really, cos on or off, i felt not much bass improvements, sure the sub was moving, but it didnt sound like there was more bass, so i had to increase sub gain. then i swapped it with my monoprice rca. omg, i had too much bass... i had to reduce the gain, finally the bass had extention and i could immediately tell the difference whether the sub was on or not when listening to music. for movies... lets just say... my windows were all rattling... with the rm5 cable not much rattling haha

Bro yuan415, take it slowly la, one step at a time. U don't have to rush in getting the aftermarket/DIY cables. Just listen to ur headphone for quite sometime for now, then only upgrade new cable when u feel like there's really a necessity, eg. when u feel like there's something lacking with the SQ.

PS: The poison has been spilled quite alot in this thread. biggrin.gif
