anyone can help here? my friend accidentally used CWM to format his SGS2. What are the steps to recover?

I am suggesting to flash a rom with download mode, but I not very sure this can help....he seems accidentally format system... he can't select the zip via CWM.

Suggest you don't move all applications to external sdcards.

I faced this problem before.
At the end , I figured out it is due to the apps (auto startup during phone boot) which I moved to micro sdcard.
This what I think:
When phone boot up, it will try to start up all the applications which support auto-start.
Due to the apps which are moved to external sdcard, it will took longer time to start up by OS and at the end, it cause your phone heat up and the phone will reboot.
After I stopped moving those applications which auto-startup during phone boot, i don't see the problem anymore.
