Well i believe it's a good change. The target listener won't just be angsty teenager anymore. And not the whole album will be just Chester singing. It will be quite balanced. They have matured, songwise and their appearance as well. And if you think why the sound is so much different from their previous 2 album, it's what they want it to be. Raw and more natural sounding. I'm just quoting what they say here.

It's soft yes, but i don't particularly hate it. If you expect something like HT or Meteora, you'll be utterly disappointed. Mike singing ?

After looping the album more than 30x, only 1 song that i don't really like, which is In Between.
