for those who doubt, Papago X5 can run : attached screen shots - only issue is the menu hanging in middle

[attachmentid=2532416][attachmentid=2532417]

This is the detailed procedure:

1. Download spareparts from market. Launch it - scroll down and untick "Compatibilty Mode". Soft reset phone

2. Select the largest folder, Amend/rename  in mnt/ sdcard : Navisea/Organic to 800X1280.  For the subfolders CHT, EN, IND, MY - amend/rename the same folder to 800X1280
*
Hi Benny,

If you use spareparts I notice the data symbol will only show G, no more E, 3G, H or H+. Also notice the screen not so vibrant anymore... maybe it's my eyes... anyone can confirm this?

Which largest folder to modify? Is it 600X1024? CHD, IND and MY folders only have 4 folders with the larget being 480X854...

thanks.

BTW, if you are thinking to upgrade or not... IMHO, you should do it.. this is the most awesome phone... it's not as huge as I expected it to be... it's really carry-able and definitely can be used as a phone smile.gif

Only one thing to gripe... the call quality is not top-notch, but acceptable.. you just have to make sure u place the speaker correctly to ur ear so the sound can be clearer to you.... alternatively just use bluetooth ear-piece...

what's the largest size microSD card the Note can support?

Which brand is good?

Does it has significant difference between high speed and normal microSD card?

just rename the 600x1024 and all the 480x854 folders
Thanks... I got it working but how can I get back the data symbol (E, 3G, H, H+) instead of G on the top bar...

btw, the GPS locks scarily FAST!!  Test using Papago X5 during the weekend.  The GPS locks within 1-2 seconds!!  So much faster than my DHD which normally took about 5 minutes or more if i did not use it for a while.  Think Samsung must have learn their lesson from the poor GPS in their first gen SGS.

Open your app drawer, hit menu then EDIT.. change your View Type to Customizable Grid.. You should be able to press and hold the dock icons and swap them/rearrange  out with whatever you wish
I wondered the same thing and benny's method works beautifully... thanks sifu benny smile.gif

sorry....interested on the phone....quite hot in recently ....
some question need to be clear before i upgrade my s2:
1. battery, how long can Note tahan ? since the 5.3 screen amoled is bigger than s2.?
2. did it difficult to carry when talking to the phone? any ppl found difficult to put in pocket???
3. did the stylus (the pen) easy to come out???
4. did Note come out with "white"?
thx u for urs to solve my question...^^
*
Let me help answer some of your questions :

1. so far so good, the batt life i can say it's one of the best.. of course juice defender helps a bit I guess... whole day on 3G (occasional download but whatapps online throughout) morning used from 7am till now about 20% left... i think if u dun on data and wifi, probably can last u 3 days... with normal usage... screnn bigger but the batt also bigger 2200mah

2. Not at all... because it's slim it can easily slot into your slack pants.. jean should be just nice for front pocket.. back pocket should be easily fit.... the weight also feel just nice.. not too ringan like the S2

3. as easy as abc

4. yes... but i tink not available yet in MY

Hi guys...

i downloaded Papago x5... the website ask me to download part 1 & part 2.
Follow by downloading the map cost 120++mb

i copy that file and installed into Note then copy & paste the file. plus rename those file to 800X1280.

I think it can use, as i did not copy & paste the part 2 file which still can lauch papago.

I wonder what am i missing?

Download and run spareparts + and untick compatible mode..

Read sifu benny's post at page 59 post #1180 for detailed procedures... or u can refer to his excellent galaxy tab post for much details procedures... it applied the same to the note....

When i'm in call i just look at the screen and browse back to the main screen, the top part colour look very funny, but after browse a few page different then it returns to black colour and it goes back to this green colour again. Is this normal? Please refer to the photo:

Still left 20% of battery
Usage: 30minute on youtube, 24/7 data on, facebook on, browsing internet, checking mail and play some games.

This is extremely good but how come your android OS is above 20% and still you can get so good battery life... no widget, no task killer and no juice defender?

hi waveweaver, regarding the betterbattery you suggested i've downloaded but have no idea how it works. Can teach noobie here?

Secondly, i realise my Android OS is utilising more batter % compare to my screen. Any idea/suggestion? My phone can't last me a complete 24 hours with moderate phone call, sms with wifi connected (always on). Any suggestion?
*
brainpower, 1st thing 1st turn off wifi :Setting > wireless and network > wireless setting >

Uncheck Network Notification and Wi-Fi

Then try again.

BetterBatteryStats hard to teach.. u better go here and read all the posts... you will soon get it.. im testing it now as well... 1st day test without modification, fully charged at 10pm, then sleep the phone.. next morning 6am left 90%.. today 2nd day, found out the culprit and am testing tonite... will update tomorrow... also during the sleep time at night the phone is using about 7 to 79ma... which is not right...

Hmm.. so the Battery in Galaxy Note is good...is it?
and how about the S-Pen's accuracy? is it good?
actually i love this phone of course of its big screen since i am heavy mobile browser and i use GPS a lot..
Still waiting for the official ICS upgrade for Note, waiting for some reviews on the upgrades first then decide whether taking it or not..

i hope this phone will be my 1st android for me can can serve me well just as my nokia 5800 served me well 3 years..^^
*
For my unit :
In normal circumstances battery is very good....
S-Pen is accurate
Same here, I love phone with big screen.... I got a Tab as tablet earlier but it's too big... so check out my fren's Streak.. it's perfect size... then heard about the Note... waited and waited.. finally got it on 11.11.11... smile.gif

Don't wait.. I'm sure you will love it... GPS is super super fast....

This is my first android phone too not counting the tab... and my N95 8GB served me 4 years... it's now a backup smile.gif

It's like an indicator to tell you, you are at the last page... no need to swipe summore... hehehe smile.gif

I am also wondering what is the advantage of rooting....
*
You get to use Titanium Backup!!! smile.gif

Seriously.. read this : http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?title=Why_Root

Basically this should answer it for you :

What Do I Lose Having Root

The sense that someone else controls your phone
The need to sit in an Android chat channel asking how to get root
The need for a stupid useless "File Manager" that lets you see filenames but almost nothing else.
The ability to have a knowledgeable conversation with a T-Mobile rep about your phone. (Ask one of them to spell root for you)

Confirm.. but I would say the update is slow for certain area.... I worked in Cyberjaya and exit the Cyberjaya/Putrajaya toll from elite everyday... there's no route to Selangor Science Park after the toll in sygic... it's the shortcut to MMU .... maybe cyberjaya still consider ulu place... hahaha smile.gif

i am wondering what so great about ICS that hold you back from getting the Note now.  When ICS is ready for Note, I am very sure by then Note has already become an outdated model.  Note II will be around the corner by then.  Then you will need to wait for Jellybean to be on Note II before you buy it.  The cycle go on and on and on and on......forever.

Just get whatever suited to your usage now.  Dun wait for tomorrow.  wink.gif

+1... that's what she says...wink.gif
