Hi All,

i"m a newbie here, but actually i have been following this forum for a couple of months.

i'm an owner of ASUS N45SF, and these freezing has become unbearable.

the symptoms i'm having is :
- at first, no issue, playing games all day
- but lately, i cant even play a game without freezing in 5 minutes.

i have tried :
- Defrag
- downgrade, upgrade Nvidia driver
- driver sweeper
- change compatibility
- change to "run as administrator"

and i know it's not the case of Jack sparrow, because other computers can run just fine with the same version i owned (note : NFS the Run IS capped to 30 fps, not because its a jack sparrow ones)

i'm close to reformat my windows, because i suspect my error is actually cause by
- windows update
- or, uncompatible sound driver

but if i'm not wrong, this issue only palgue the latest 2011 games, anybody playing Crysis experience the same thing?

tx

btw i've tried using headphones n play aso got sound distortion in headphones. So not speaker driver problem. Is laptop completely hang so the sound aso distorted. laugh.gif btw i downgrade to older graphic driver, so far no blue screen. Hehe n i plan to buy oem intel ssd 160gb for 500. brows.gif
*
i agree with you...i also did the same thing...playing with headphones..didnt change anything...

so it works with downgrading vga driver?

btw, anyone using DLL-Files.com FIXER? the one recommended earlier?

so i tried it, deleted some HIGH-error, n somehow my GPU Temp drop from average of playing 81, to 76 c.

really odd la?!?!? rclxub.gif

but still crash unfortunately...so i dont think its the Temp that causing to crash.

but the funny thing is that, usually after freezing, when i restart, nothing came up, but after i use DLL-Fixer, an ERROR notification came up.

anybody experiencing the same thing?

ya oil rush i also crash. But if i pull it down to 630MHz only so far so good no crash xD
*
htpkevin, it seems you are right...i played skyrim and oil rush and no usuall freezing which can only be solved by shutting down.

unfortunately or perhaps fortunately, now the crash is reduce to CTD. which is better, but perhaps its just because of the game, or high use of graphic, e.g : when i'm fighting a dragon in the middle of a blizzard.but else...seems a'ok.

which means, either a driver is really weighing the VGA or the power supply is not enough.

whats CTD  sweat.gif ? lol i really dunno that. Well another thing i thought of is, coz by right GT555M default clock is around 575Mhz, so when we got our laptop its 675Mhz. So we can say its been OC-ed 100Mhz by Asus. And well in Overclocking no chips are the same, some can perform better than others. We probably can just say our chip are not as good as others lol.
*
CTD = Crash To Desktop

nice thinking..just hope it didnt become a recurring incident, which can only be solved by repeatedly lowering the clock speed. hmm.gif doh.gif

after underclock to 630Mhz, no crash on any games. Nuttyking also tried also no problem so far
*
Just wanted to clarify some info..the 630 MHz, manage to make one of the most stable gaming performance so far.

at the exception of Oil Rush, which was made by a Benchmarking company, so i think the game was more of a benchmarking tools, than a game itself.

all credits goes to htpkevin rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

Need help here!!!!

Problem: BSOD

The Story: 1st bought installed B.Ops and MW3 running fine finished the game. After 1 months or so have installed Dirt 3 and had that problem , then the problem eventually occur on all high spec games (L4D2,NFSRun,F12011,Portal 2)

Things I did : High Perfomance settings , Upgrade Nvidia Drivers , Use 1x 4gb ram instead of 2 , switch ram slots

I know the N is not optimised for gaming but i believe shouldnt be much of a problem rite?? so please help. Thx alot in advance !!
*
Hi Taeyoung, can you inform us, what is the model of your laptop? N55sf or N45sf? coz i have been playing a lot of games on my N45sf on no issue (with the BIOS upgrade and downclock solution) so far.

Wanna bring up a previous/old issue of n45sf; anyone else having random freeze/hang while gaming, with buzz noise coming from speakers even for low req games like dota? With no choice but to force shutdown with power button? Even after updating to latest BIOS/drivers? This prob really bugs me to no end, for it's occurrence is damn random with no tell tale signs, other than it only happens when i dota (not other games so far).  Anyway decided to stress it with OCCT and check the power supply, for i had a feeling it's the culprit (again) and got an error in less than 3mins. But i have no idea what the error means, or how to interpret the data. Anyway to those who knw, pls help!!!

hi rotunjere, this is an issue that me and htpkevin had a while ago.
the solution is using an overclocking tools, like "MSI Afterburner", than downclock the GPU to 630 MHz.

that solves the problem splendidly..been using and no hang eversince, no matter what games i played.

I cant update my graphic card, always states that it cant found the compatible hardware.

i've tried the "net stop mgmt" and rename the "repository", but still no avail.

anybody has another solution?

HI All,

anyone still playing Skyrim? a few days ago, as i was playing suddenly the game freeze for a few seconds, but before that, everything was smooth.
nowadays even in a fight, the game would suddenly freezes for a few seconds.

all other games are ok, no problem. i've tried :
- upgrading my BIOS to 223
- install the latest Nvidia driver
- update the game to the latest release.
- increase VGA clock
- decrease VGA clock
- reinstall - with/without mods

but nothing works, seems a Graphic card bug. any ideas how to solve? been looking everywhere for a week for a solution. but no one has the same issue on an N45sf.

thanks

disable anti-aliasing?..
superfetch turned off??..

hmm..i always disable anti-alias..i already tried to set it to "lowest" settings, but still the game freezes..so i think its something correlated with Graphic/CPU

how to disable superfetch?

Speaking of game booster, yeah I rely on that as well. Of course it's something we can do manually, but 1 button that does everything is always nicer to have tongue.gif

I'm using Advanced System Care and their Game Mode really make things so easy for me wink.gif
*
guys, thanks for all the info, i did some checking :
- superfetch is on
- i've tried using GameBooster 3, or try running the game after restart..no efffect.
- and for htpkevin - as for the temp, i've been monitoring them, but strangely, no sudden rise, and quite stable.

at the very last attempt, i'll try revert the VGA driver. and see what happens.
