QUOTE(versacy @ Jan 17 2012, 10:58 PM)
Should i use aero(glass) or the basic theme for my windows 7?
i got the intel hd 3000 and gt555 and heard that basic uses cpu and ram while aero uses the gpu. since this is optimus i don't know wat gpu it will use but for gaming gpu wud be more stressed under aero.
my auslogics boost speed says tht my gpu(probably intel hd) natively doesn't supports aero effects and its safe to disable it for better performance. can someone let me know if i shud go ahead use the basic or keep the aero? playing with windows in aero is better than in basic where it drags under animation...

Don't worry, the HD3000 is not that weak of a GPU. And aero doesn't use much resources on windows 7. The laptop will stay on the Intel card without running any games, no worries there.

The GT555m performance has been very good. I play Skyrim with a mix of high\ultra settings at 1366x768 and get 35-50 FPS (without overclocking the GPU). I haven't played a ton of other games but most games I've tried (Deus Ex: HR, Crysis benchmark, Medal of Honor, Dragon Age Origins) all run at 1920x1080 at high settings with 30 - 60fps. Overall, in my experience, I find the GT555m is slightly faster than the 6770m in games that are more nvidia friendly, and similar to the 6770m in games that are ATI\AMD friendly." - i read from notebookreview forum.
i think hmm.gif , i go N55sf.  icon_idea.gif

The GT555M is definitely incapable of playing the latest games with 30-60fps at 1080p at high settings, save for games like PES and Fifa. And the GT555M mentioned in the NBR forum refers to the one with 192 bit which is present in the Alienware M14x.

The 6770M is still slightly faster than both these variants of the GT555M, although it is very slight.
