I don't know how many of you are like me who have nose allergy (what to do... inherit by genetics)

When I was in Australia I found this super medicine



Its called Claratyne-D (with decongestant)
It works on a time release for 12 hours. Dries up ur watery nose as well as teary eyes within minutes!
Best of all... its non drowsy!! Hell yeah~


I wanna know if Malaysia sells this. If not I'm thinking of asking my gf to bring it back from Australia.

I dont think Claratyne-D is sold in Malaysia.

But good news - you can get Clarinase. Which has the same ingredient as Claratyne-D.

This is a case of allergy right?

Claratyne-D is basically a Claratyne with added decongestant (pseudoephedrine 120mg).

Claratyne is actually Loratadine, an antihistamine.

You can get Loratadine as a generic at the pharmacy. But am not sure about pseudoephedrine.

But if you are looking for something similar, try Telfast-D.

Telfast-D contains Fexofenadine (another antihistamine like Loratadine), and the same decongestant (pseudoephedrine 120mg).

Other antihistamine for allergy would be Cetirizine (brand name being Zyrtec), Fexofenadine (Telfast), and Loratadine (Claritin). But all without decongestant, although they do help with it, but not as much as those with decongestant (pseudoephedrine).

Remember to have Prednisolone (Corticosteroid) around just in case you are having a severe allergy attack.

Better yet, check with the doctors here for allergy advice.

I use Zyrtec-D.

There's a similar item called Clarinase Repetabs. But I don't think it's being sold in Malaysia.

Telfast-D and Zyrtec-D seems to do the job just fine.

Why take half of loratadine (10mg) and pop another Clarinese (5mg loratadine and 120mg pseudoephedrine)? Clarinase and Clarityne-D has the same composition. But like the TS said, Claratyne-D is not sold in Malaysia, and the one you recommended Clarinase Repetabs also not available here.

You're right, Daniel. Clarinase already has 5mg of loratidine and 120mg of pseudoephedrine sulphate. Removed that comment.

Clarinase Repetabs are the same as Claratyne-D and are both controlled release tablets. I only found them marketed in UK as Clarinase repetabs thats why I said I don't know if they are being sold in Malaysia.

Personally I don't take pseudophedrine sulphate because it makes me drowsy. I find that those that have pseudoephedrine hydrochloride (like Telfast-D) works much better for me.

@TS: Go and ask the pharmacists whether they sell controlled release antihistamine+decongestant pills. They may have something similar being marketed under a different brand. As Daniel mentioned, they are the same stuff, just being marketed under different name due to trademarks.

EDIT: I believe Clarinase sold in Malaysia is already in Repetab form (looks like M&Ms) instead of a tablet. And it lasts 12 hours as well.

Try not to take decongestants for long term as some might cause rebound effects...and your nose will develop tolerance for the drugs...

Surprisingly some antihistamines that are supposed to be non sedative makes me drowsy. But some that should make me drowsy have no effect as such hahaha weird.

Yes, I find this true. I also found Claratyne is more effective for me than Zyrtec...

It's technically 'less-sedative, i.e fexafenadine... it's not exactly 100% non sedative... then again..it still depends on your body condition on that particular day and how many hours of sleep did you get the night before....lots of reasons which can contribute to your dizziness..

My doctor give me claratyne. Not sure if it's claratyne-d.. Coz the doctor will cut the whole pack into each small tablets so I can't really read properly,, but it's better than zrytec... I can't live without claratyne...

By the way, any of you have heard bout the surgery that can helps to cure sinus?

Yup. fexafenadine seems to be ok for me while the others are always making me drowsy. Nowadays rotating fexafenadine and loratadine daily either one, and occasionally cetirizine. I can't live without all this. Everyday taking them and when i really need corticosteroid, will take them. Worried bout the effect, I've seen someone I know become round on the face
