Hi, I am new to this thread. May I know where is Golf 1.4 TSI assembled?

From today Star Newspaper, there's pre-owned sales at Wearnes Sg. Besi/Ampang for Passat, Jetta, Touran, this week, any interesting news?

Thanks in advance

Thanks all for reply and confirmation on its place of assembled for Golf 1.4 TSI.

How close is amaryllis red (metallic paint) of Golf 1.4 TSI compared to tornado red (solid paint) of Golf GTI? Will these colour fade overtime, especially solid paint?

From the physical appearance, I have no complaint about Golf 1.4 TSI MKVI except its rear seat, especially the rear centre seat, it is slightly narrow and most of time will hit the rear air-cond compartment. No chance to test drive it yet.

Golf is more suited for 4 people only for comfort sitting. If 5 (or 6, which I manage to squeeze during lunch  tongue.gif ), it's just for very short trip like 10-20 minutes or few km.

Initially, I was contemplating red colour as my first choice. The Amryllis red is as close to what r3kahsttub post above. It is a deeper/darker/blacker shade of red. Deeper than GTI red.

Tornado red is really bright chilli hot red. Open PC paintbrush, RGB-255-0-0. Very 'garang'

In the end, last minute, changed to candy white  rolleyes.gif

Thanks all for the reply on the colour difference, I was told the new batch of Golf TSI is painted with Tornado Red (Solid Paint), no Amaryllis red.

Love tornado red very much. Need to wash car very often tongue.gif

I have few queries as below: -

a) Does the Golf 1.4 TSI with tyre pressure monitoring system?

b) How reliable is the 7-speed dry DSG especially the new batch Golf TSI? Have they been software updated?

c) Juttering still a problem?

a) No

b) There is a version 2 of the software. Reliability? Not too sure but my mechatronic died on me and while my car was in the workshop, there were 10 other cars waiting in line to replace their mechatronics as well.

c) Yes, juddering is still an issue

Thanks for the reply Mavik.

One of the SA in FA glemarie told me, there's tyre pressure monitoring system for Jetta, is it true? Think only Passat has this feature.

In your opinion, is it worth/risk to buy Golf 1.4 TSI? sound scary to me...

With regards to the DSG, is the driving altitude leads to the problem? As DSG is supposed to act like manual clutch system which one need to set to neutral (N) when the car is stopped for long time, eg. at traffic light. so it may reduce the wear/tear of DSG.

The truth about the dsg7 is that the engine power running very close to the limit of the gearbox. The dsg7 is rated at 250nm n most of the engine that coupled to this gearbox ie tsi1.4 n 1.8 is at 160-180hp with 240-260nm at the wheel. This mean on crank u looking at almost 170-190hp n 260-280nm. That is 2.5l NA equivalent power. The 0-100 accel is addictive too n I seen way too many auntie n folks spinning wheel at traffic light doing launch control. With the dry n lower rated dsg limit that's is just a recipe for accelerated wear n year. There are cases of mechatronic failure or clutch pack issues for complete stock as mentioned but they are also many who driven for 60-70k km in 12mths without issue. So is the gear box design bad or just a batch issue? So far many of those who have replace the parts are having no further issue. So I think more of a batch issue.

But how many are willing n honest about what they have done to their car before the dsg failed? I know a few who remap barely out of showroom n start to ARempit like no body business and then parts failed.. And cry baby... And quietly revert to stock but get caught by vw because the car computer ecu keep track of flash count n losses their warranty.

If u drive it as it is without mod, if things failed u got 5 yrs unlimited mileage warranty to take care of thing.

If u worry too much buy the usual t & h n keep ur resale value. If u think vw bad, go and check out the BMW/peugeot/ford etc forum too...

Make sense, if it is true, it clears my doubt on DSG's reliability and confidence on VW.
