Yes, the Golf GTI SE versions come with RCD510

- SE got 18" Detroit wheels. Normal GTI only got 17" Denver wheels
- SE got sunroof. Normal GTI don't have
- SE got cruise control. Normal GTI don't have
- SE got RCD 510 head unit. Normal GTI only got welfare RCD 310
- SE got lucky ******* owners. Normal GTI only got water fish owners like me

Anything else I miss?

Yup i booked a golf gti se n the sa told me i'll be getting it by end of march or early april 2012. This year vw only bring 60 units of gti se n all of them are sold out.
However, if i'm not mistaken the sa told me all 2012 model golf gti will be like se where they will come with sunroof, 18" detroit wheels, rcd510, cruise control n all.

I'm not really sure that all 2012 model will be the same as se, thats what my sa told me. But i think it'd be better to just specify that u want the se model when u book it. Or u can ask ur sa about it when u want to book it later. I told my sa that i want the gti se n she said all the 2012 model will be coming with se specs

the only sameX2 thing is the 0 to 100 only..the rest is a different class of vehicle alltogether...

I will let the rest share with you in term of ride, space, bhp, stability, feel, potential small tweak to add 40bhp + 120nm, R lights, gadgetry etc etc.

Fantastic write up bro! Very detailed and loved all the pictures available.
On paper you will see that the performance figures seem the same but for the enthusiast, the Golf GTI has a lot more potential than the Polo GTI because I would say that the 7-speed dry clutch gearbox is holding it back and of course there is the 1.4 engine (I have seen those crazy German fellas pull out 300bhp out of that 1.4 engine but of course on a manual gearbox).

If you do a very detailed comparison, the Polo GTI shares a lot more similarities with the Golf GTI Mk1 actually, in terms of size and weight. The current Golf GTI is like double the weight of that of the original GTI but of course this is due to the safety features.

I really did wish that VW would actually release a manual version of the Polo GTI

Both also correct! The plate and the white sticker was from Getto but I gotten the plate about a month back and now back at Getto to get the white stickers. 

Skimmed means skimmed as in a polish effect. Basically converting the Denvers to look like Detroits.

Note that the images are actually different rims but the effect is just the same

Depends on the shop you go to. I did mine at YR Auto in Kepong. I know Hup Shun in Sunway also provides this service. Can range from RM500-RM600 if I am not mistaken. Do note it will take them a couple of days to do it.

If you want real hardcore EURO plates look at the link below (more expensive though). My buddy did one for his M5 and it looks the dogs bollocks.

Yea hope so too i'd love it if the 2012 golf gti already come with the golf r led rear light together with the dlr front light so i can save my rm2k to change the rear light later  .
But i doubt it will come with that abt rims.
I've watched a few videos of 2012 golf gti from the youtube too.
The 2012 golf gti in europe come with all the golf gti se specs like dlr light, 18" rims, sunroof, rcd510 & cruise control, but with more addition such as push start, golf ball shaped dsg gear & the rims are serron 18" rims instead of the standard detroit rims. Some of them already come with golf r led rear light but some don't.
So i wonder whats the specs for 2012 golf gti that will be brought to malaysia next year. Guess we have to wait till march/april next year to find out huh

The serron rims n golf ball shaped gear are actually for golf gti adidas special edition but some of the 2012 golf gti in europe come with those too.

The pricing without insurance is readily available. There wasnt any issue there. What i was asking for was the cost of insurance. The car prices were already on Page 1 so no reason to repeat that.

And i dont need to write to anybody as well. VW had a separate listing of all insurance prices for each model during their roadshow at Tropicana City Mall. So if they can have separate listings why not put it up for anybody to see? The only reason for this is to show that their cars arent that expensive at first glance. This is called 'misleading the consumer'.
