QUOTE(Mavik @ Jun 29 2012, 08:07 PM) Yup I faced those same issues. In the end, I sold off my car. Couldn't stand having to hang around the SC so many times as well as wait so long for warranty such as the mechatronics etc..etc...etc.. yes the golf TSI gearbox is quite problematic.but the 6 speed on the MK6 GTI is quite problem free. rarely heard got issues. i guess the 7 speed is just problematic |

QUOTE(Mavik @ Jun 30 2012, 02:30 PM) Well to be fair, the 7-speed is indeed a good gearbox minus the reliability. Just that it can't take that much torque. yeah yours was remapped and the most powerful 1.4 out there somemore.. hahabut even stock ones got issues.... some ppl out there scared to buy VW for this DSG reliability already |

Btw guys, I like Mk5 shape more than Mk6 especially the rear. Any known issues with Mk5 Yr 08 and onwards? Only stock VGM units, not recond. The fabric seat vs leather seats models...fabric are all recond cars ? Thinking of getting 1 while waiting for Mk7. Any advice from Mk5 owners here? I see 09 units at 140+ to 150k, seriously still expensive..might as well get E90. So? Need a 4 doors unit. Anyone know the official selling price for the Mk5 GTI last time ? Thanks. there are a lot of 09 registered mk5 that is 08 manufactured, that is the newest mk5 is you can find. there are some for sale, depends on whether you want stock car or fully mod... got many choices out there. there is a 40k km mileage 09 reg MK5 GTI, for RM14xk only, got mods such as revo remap, intercooler, bodykit etc. all the VGM units are leather seats except the 09 SE which come with fabric. the recon ones could be fabric or leather depends... im with leather but i think the fabric is nice too, the leather is wrinkled too easily E90? even the 325i is not as fast as the stock mk5 gti. remap the gti and you will gain 40hp and 80Nm with just ECU tweak.. if speed is your concern la. NVH the e90 is better. official selling price was RM200,xxx in 2007-2008 This post has been edited by phas3r: Jul 6 2012, 08:26 PM |

QUOTE(SeraphimGecko @ Jul 6 2012, 07:57 PM) Hi phas3r, yea last manufactured is 2008, but the reg 2009 ones are only start being driven in 2009.. so only 3 years+ on the road.thanks for the feedback. means the last batch Mk5 is mfg in 08? then these are 5yrs car. looking at the way VGM works, there should be hefty discounts on the last batch. true? l know last yr Q4, new pre-reg 2011 Mk6 at 190k so, I m thinking Mk5 08/09 at 140k expensive? mudah Mk6 09 at 160k but mileage is 100k km. how ? Your fren is selling? where is the advert? mk5 for 2005 is 118-125k, last batch 0809 ones is 140-150k. yes cheapest mk6 with 95k km is rm160k. but if stock still got warranty, unlimited mileage what. this one, not really my friend but i met him at the workshop and had a talk, selling at rm148k firm; http://www.mudah.my/Volkswagen+Golf+A+GTI-16183932.htm this one i dunno the owner, a bit older, 2007 car. but lower mileage 51k, even more accessories... these mods easily worth RM10-20k http://www.mudah.my/Volkswagen+Golf+GTI+v+...II-16362399.htm stock 08/09 one with low mileage+warranty http://www.mudah.my/Volkswagen+Golf+GTI+2+...09-16303192.htm |

QUOTE(debbieyss @ Jul 6 2012, 10:40 PM) Thanks for replying. No issues la. Youre a female isnt it? At least u askedThanks! You answered what I wanted to ask.. Comparing with Honda City Grade S, Jetta will be having better performance right? Don't show me this faces lar.. first time buying car... Thanks for replying! Btw 1.5 city and jetta.... Night and day difference haha. Just go and test drive. Torque is basically the low end pickup or pulling power. U should see at what rpm the max torque is produced Most vw cars peak torque is at low rpm, means pickup is very good |

QUOTE(debbieyss @ Jul 6 2012, 11:36 PM) Thanks! Hmm, ok actually there is a graph for these two, but to make it simple we just take the max value.Honda City: Maximum Torque [Nm(kg-m)/rpm] = 145 (14.8)@4,800 Jetta: Max. torque, Nm at rpm = 240/1500-4500 How to study and compare these 2? Honda is only 300 rpm higher than Jetta, not much different, right? Only if u rev your car til 4800rpm the city will produce its maximum pulling power aka torque. At much less rpm, say 2k or 3k rpm it produce less, maybe 100 or 120nm While the jetta, at just 1500rpm all the way until 4500rpm it will produce 240nm, which gives u massive pulling power advantage over city Why does this happen although city's engine is bigger? Because the city is not turbocharged and/or supercharged unlike the jetta or other vws |

QUOTE(debbieyss @ Jul 6 2012, 11:52 PM) Thanks for your explaination, I think I have understood the concept. Hmm it could be subjective, but my vw is more than cold enough for me. I cant stand very cold temp anywayMy friend drove Peugeot 308 and the only concern it has is air-cond temperature is not good. This is because Peugeot is Germany car and the car is designed for country of cold whether and not hot whether like Malaysia. My question is that, how's the air-cond performance of VW? |

It it lower spec than the regular full grey interior models or just purely different coloured interior only. Kinda like the civic 1.8 and civc 2.0 interior difference...? Thanks. this one? nothing low spec about having different color, in fact my mk5 with exterior blue color also has that brown interior it also has buttons on the steering wheel, some has the older style buttons, some dont have. some pics of mine » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

QUOTE(Mr.Lonely @ Jul 11 2012, 03:55 PM) Anyone here come across golf gti engine's oil need to top up ? My car running for 3 weeks 1.7k km and got engine oil check light lighted, send back to volkswagen on Monday the service department say that the engine no problem just that all golf gti also need top up oil once in a while. Is this true? needing top up is quite normal, but 1700km being low is way too soon. usually if consume too much got problem inside the engine like the polo GTI issue. got 1 owner had his engine replaced also |

QUOTE(SeraphimGecko @ Jul 11 2012, 11:03 PM) Dual-tone looks nice. haha actually those pics are taken two years ago, the driver seat has some wear now I must say , your leather seats looks very well taken care of. Nice. Is it the last batch Mk5 all come in Dual-tone? Never heard that we could choose interior spec for Mk5. anyways my 2nd pic is the most correct representation of the color, other pics have their color balance changed. i can say 90% of the leather come in black, the rest is the rare brown(?) like mine and beige.. also the fabric interlagos seat it's not necessarily last batch.. and we dont have the choice to pick the interior color too i see some new mk5 being newly advertised in mudah, one of them shadow blue with brown interior, yr 2008 btw, u have other VWs as well? Added on July 12, 2012, 1:04 am QUOTE(Mr.Lonely @ Jul 11 2012, 10:59 PM) and then drive a bit, if it gets low after less than 5k or so, then something must be wrong, example piston ring http://www.vwclubmalaysia.net/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=5398 http://www.vwclubmalaysia.net/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=5063 these issues are more common on polo gti, golf gti no issues on consuming that much for that little mileage. although highway drives eat more oil than normal drives This post has been edited by phas3r: Jul 12 2012, 01:04 AM |

QUOTE(SeraphimGecko @ Jul 14 2012, 05:26 PM) Hi Sam, the cc went several price hikes over the last 2 years as well... from 2010 230k, to 260k, now u get 1.8 at 226k. PM the current promo for Golf GTi. Any update on Mk7 ? Was at wearnes sg. Besi this morning...there was a big crowd there. really like the CC's looks but 1.8 n 7dsg, not cool at that price. if golf tsi and gti can increase then good news for current owners, including mk5 owners too some say vw rivals are to blame for the price hikes.
