Hello,

Have a 2007 1.3 (A) Myvi. Since day 1 the aircon compressor has been super loud. The engine itself is silent on idle. When the air con compressor kicks in, I think the whole taman can hear the car !

Aircon has also lost coldness. Tried refilling gas, but no change.

Have been told that myvi aircon's are 'memang loud', to the possiblility that the compressor oil is too little.

Any guidance, suggestions sifu's?

Check with air con mechanic.
Basically the air con system have compressor, condenser, cooling coil, receiver drier and expansion valve.
Since it is already 4 years, maybe you need to change the receiver drier, check the expansion valve

hey, thanks for the feedback !
Any mech recommended? I stay in PJ. Did try take it to one air con specialist, he wanted rm250 to do a full service. Felt that was a bit too steep, altho he is known for good work. Decided to just fill gas instead, but problem still persists.

Not the gas fault then, something is still wrong. By air con service, does he mean removing the cooling coil to be washed, change the gas (refrigerant), then may cost that much....
I have mechanic in Puchong, will pm you his address. See if you want to try him out.....

Yup, remove cooling coil for washing, changing refrigerant and labour. Basicly he said 'take everything out and do'.
Sorry, still pretty noob regarding car aircon's laugh.gif . Is rm250 a reasonable price for all that?

I did drop by the P2 SC and ask, they quoted air con service at rm 125. Forgot to ask what exactly that includes... blush.gif

any suggestions, boss?

Not too sure how much the charges, but to dismantle cooling coil to clean, and if including the gas prices then should be cheap.
Air con service also have the chicken and egg problem.
Some will service their air con yearly to prolong it's use. I am old school so I will repair the air con only when got problem. For some cars nowadays have cabin filter so no need to remove cooling coil to clean but just change the filter.
So, many variations...... hmm.gif

service air con..always go back to Denso for Myvi.. the prices in Denso & outside shop same same, you're better off going back to the people who made the air conditioning compressor.

and air con is a hit and miss lah.. my friend's Myvi, 2005.. on his third compressor now.. my Myvi 2006.. used original compressor until now..

I only did service once, last year, at Vision Bangsar, they are authorized and official Denso service centre, and they have the equipment to fully change the compressor oil -- everywhere else they only refill/top up the oil cause no equipment. also, they have the equipment to check the compressor's pressure.. if insufficient pressure..then naturally it won't be cold lah. don't simply go air con shop..go to the experts.

So far all air con shops I have been to, uses a meter to refill the refrigerant. Cannot agar agr one, and have to be accurate. Too little or too much also will not be cold. Too much , is worst may overpressure and burst some hoses.
Air con fan not working the pressure also will go up.....too hot......

What do you mean by service? Change the refrigerant and re-oil the compressor or take out the cooling coil to be washed? Some cars are equipped with cabin filters nowadays, so they only change the filter.
As for the refrigerant and oil, some do it yearly, some do it once in two years and old school like me, only do it when there is problem with the air con. So the choice is yours...... tongue.gif

Usually cooling coil maybe not, unless different brands also make for Myvi. As for compressors depends on the bracket and place for mounting. My old Sonata original compressor cost RM1300, so my mechanic changed the bracket and mounted another brand on for me which cost RM600..... rclxms.gif

ok..so basically it's just about the mounting issues..bro, do you think if i change to other car's compressor (which is originally quiet), will installing that into my car the noise also will be quiet?

If the original compressor is really noisy, then yes, but best to check with your mechanic whether can be done or not?

who say no alternative? never read Myviclub.com? lol. You can use Avanza's piston-type compressor. I am using it now, damn cold even under hot sun, as long as vehicle is moving. of course idling its not so cold, but still colder than original. Avanza is a bigger car.. so air con also colder.

can't remember was between rm150-250. work was about 3-4 hours..they will change all the oil, and also test the compressor, and refill gas if required. very professional. although they deal in high end cars, Lexus, Altezzas, Veilfires.. their staff are friendly and I feel the price I paid is reasonable.

i didn't research much on aircon previously, just that suddenly i felt that compressor noise is very annoying especially during listening to my ICE..

btw bro, since you have used Avanza's a/c compressor on ur myvi, how is the noise? cut down by alot, or still same noisy? Apart from that, are there other a/c parts besides the compressor that you swap in to the myvi?

I doubt the noise is from compressor as it could hardly be related to the ICE system.

Agree that Myvi has less problem on the compressor part. Mostly it encounters the heat distribution issues.

wow.. Myvi uses Avanza's piston-type compressor?!
Just curious how it is modified (i.e. bracket, hoses...) ?
It consumes more power from your engine if compared to original compressor, doesn't it?

Hmm~ it's better to check where the noise is from since it annoys you so much. Sometimes noises may come from other parts such as belt... if it is related to air-cond.
How long have you been servicing your car air-cond?
Could find any car accessory shop or air-cond service centre for advice.

If drive the car then yes, sound proofing and all that play a part, but not just the air con compressor.
Well, bro. cheelam is correct, and have actually ask him to see a mechanic on this....

I can only compare it to the other car I drive, a 11 year old iswara which had it's aircon serviced only once in all tht time. The myvi aircon is super loud when the compressor kicks in as compared to the 11 year old junk. doh.gif

I thought the Persona fan is the loudest, so high pitch when spinning......

Normally if compressor loud or anything for that matter, means some problem..... sad.gif

hey guys,

If the sound is annoying, get mechanics/technicians to give proper advice smile.gif then we'd discuss further here...
There are ways to settle such problem. If that's the nature of your car, then sorry to say IT'S TIME FOR A NEW CAR~ Or just BEAR WITH IT biggrin.gif

By the way, it's advisable to do air-cond service within 1 - 1.5 years. It involves a simple but essential cleaning process, i.e. cleaning the cooling coil, blower fan... in order to keep it young and healthy.

Prevention is better than cure. Cure will cause a large amount of $$. Be a smart driver!

Recommend: Welcome to PM/Visit us for any air-cond related issues or sevices. tongue.gif

Imagine if your house ceiling fan make noises, don't think add lubricant can solve the issue permanently.

Similar theory applies to your car air-cond. And normally the air-cond fan will hardly make noises.

Imagine if your house ceiling fan make noises, don't think add lubricant can solve the issue permanently.

Similar theory applies to your car air-cond. And normally the air-cond fan will hardly make noises.
*
Good way of putting it..... biggrin.gif

The fan will makes noise if the blade touches something. Motor will just slow down or don't work at all...... brows.gif

Please PM me details on Myvi Air Con service too. My Myvi has aircon problem for some time already. Done flushing via an automated computer air cond machine, changed oil refill Gas etc in Oct 2011, aircon still not so good. It gets not cold on long distance travels...

Thank you for your help and also thank your co-workers in doing a good job . I definitely would not hesitate to recommend your workshop. I would say from my experience the work was done professionally with good advice and the parts and service cost was very reasonable. My air cond problem is solved and it is definitely very nice to drive with the cool air blowing again. So two thumbs up thumbup.gif

My compressor went kaput after it had large noise. You better check on it. I've changed to a new one and for now, it's been doing good with acceptable kicking in sound.

Erm.. price is varied by the way they do the service.

Fyr, our full service includes: opening dashboard, cleaning air-cond system, air-cond gas refill, air-cond vacuum, replacing a/c valve and receiver drier. Price is much lower than yours.

Combined both situation, most probably there is blockage inside your car air-cond system which doesn't allow the cold air flow into your car. Therefore, you can't find the air is cold and water exixts near the aircond vent.

Normally this can be solved by doing a full air-cond service.
Yet, it's good to confirm your issue by a mechanic to check on your air-cond system.

Just yesterday my Myvi 2005 complete repair air Cond cost me RM730 including service, recommend by my cousin. Never service since day 1.

1. Aircon service RM250
2. Change cooling coil RM250 (He said sudah reput, but from what i see still OK, but just change since i dont want him to sabotage if didn’t change- left the car overnight)
3. Change fan motor RM150 (motor kaput)
4. Change dryers.
5. Top up gas/oil.
6. New filter and modify filter housing.

On item 2 and 3, I not really sure on the condition, but cannot tahan anymore after almost 4month without aircond. I am not sure whether I am being over charged?

The price is almost that.
Most importantly you'd find the reliable shop to conduct the job.

The price is almost that.
Most importantly you'd find the reliable shop to conduct the job.

I think one of the reason it is so expensive is the trouble of removing the whole dashboard n change the items in there. So even if is a small problem once they opened it they will asked u to might as well change everything

Guys, today I went to service my aircon at a so called Auth Denso dealer in penang - Motorcold. Supposedly have over 30 yrs of experience but don't let that fool, you.

If anyone ever go there, be careful of what you are asking them to do. Firstly they don't outright tell you the price of parts,, quietly scrolling into piece of paper and give you an estimate. Then promise you heaven and end up cannot deliver - and when things don't work to their favor they start blaming you.

I was lucky to meet the boss of the shop but NEVER deal with the two punks who may appear to be such an expert but deep down just another piece of empty vessel. Yes empty vessel as they told me crap stories and tried to modify my stock hoses.

Worse all, I am charge RM 1000 for a Myvi compressor. It appears compressor and magnetic clutch does not come together...I am surprise. From what I hv searched in the Internet, most dealers charges at most 950 for a full set compressor.

So folks,, I trust that you are wiser then me. Stay away from these crooks. I am going to write to Denso and complain about them next week.

Cheers .

Hmm~ it's better to check where the noise is from since it annoys you so much. Sometimes noises may come from other parts such as belt... if it is related to air-cond.
How long have you been servicing your car air-cond?
Could find any car accessory shop or air-cond service centre for advice.

Feel free to visit us if you are in Klang Valley smile.gif

Guys,

If you think that your compressor is giving out (abnormal noise), always check your refrigerant color via the peek window. If it's getting darker, then change the compressor ASAP before the gas contaminate the whole system. MYVI receiver dryer is sealed with the condenser. Once your compressor jammed, the metal debris will be all over the condenser core and inside the receiver dryer. The contaminated oil will still circulated in the system. Once this happened, you need to change your compressor and the condenser, flush out the whole system from the contamination.

Reference

There is other condenser which has more cores than the OEM (OEM has about 38 cores. Aftermarket have about 45 - 50 cores). It's taller but share the same width. The more cooler gas circulated, the longer your compressor can last.

So, change it fast (If your compressor gonna kaput) or don't turn on the aircond until the compressor get changed can save you a lot of $$.

i'am no aircond specialist...but this what I've told and experienced.

IINM, when your aircond is not cold, don't simply go to shop and ask for top up gas. you are just wasting your money. gas only be lessen when there got leaking.
