I am stuck with ios 5 since i never jailbreak before and never saved my SHSH.

Anyway just try restoring first, its my 2nd day since restoring, never closed my phone, and never had the problem... yet, so u probably need to waste some time doing a restore over and over again if the problem crops back, until apple decided to fix this shiat.

This issue happens to me sometime.

While fb'ing or browsing on Safari suddenly the signal becomes no service then it goes searching and the line is back. Not sure why this happens though. quite annoying but i'll live..

I've updated to iOS5 the day it was made available and did not have the problem at all - until 4/5 days ago. mad.gif

I've also googled bout it and found that some users at other countries have exactly the same problem way back in 2009 and 2010, so iOS5 might be causing to the problem, but not the actual problem I reckon. (Just my POV, I'm not a tech savy) smile.gif

If you manage to get the network back, then it just simply temporary network loss problem, not the one mentioned in this thread.
Your case should be fine and normal.
The case in this thread is that once you lost the signal, you never able to get back the network.

Don't worry mate you don't have the issue as we do. What we experience is, regardless what is shows (No Service / Searching / My Maxis/Digi) the phone function is not working. U can't make a call, or the call hangs, and when people called the phone is just not ringing/vibrating as if no call is coming in.

I called Maxis just now.

They suggest go to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings.

So far the signal in my office is back to normal. Gonna test at other locations when i am driving back home...

Now already abt 15 minutes and not a single no service/signal drop issue.

Boo... After 5 days of iOS 5.0 restore, the problem just came back just now mad.gif

This problem make iOS 5.0 the worst iOS I ever used shakehead.gif

I don't mind blue tint; I don't mind antennagate; I don't mind easily spoiled home button; but I can't accept that a phone can't be used as phone mad.gif
iOS 5 really disappointed me.
And, I can't restore to iOS5.0 now. Thanks to Apple.

Did u tried the restore network settings cokecola76 suggested? I am curious about how useful maxis recommendation are. Mine still haven't show the signs, but i am going on a trip soon, and it gonna sucks if i can't use my phone and only a restore can solve it.

Anyway i am curious, is only the 4 are plagued with this problem? What about the 3GS and the 4S users?

I can tell you the result is the same. It's a software problem.
You can check on this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/345173...tart=0&tstart=0
All the people there are facing the same problem, and no matter what they did, the problem persist.
And most of them are 4S users. I'm not sure about 3Gs though.

lol yeah. it was antennagate with the 4. and now, whats this? networkgate with the 4s? I can't believe apple did not even respond to the problem since its been plaguing us since the 5.0. Sigh, looks like i better use my old spare phone for the trip instead. Thanks for the headup though smile.gif

Antennagate was actually not a serious problem, just that the media exaggerate it as a HUGE flaw in iPhone 4.
I can live with that, since I will certainly use a case for my iPhone 4.

However this time, the network problem is not only on the 4S, it's on the iOS 5 itself.
And yet Apple still does not respond to it until now.

Seems am not alone, after going for 5.0.1, my 3GS and wife's 4 couldn't signal when we're at home. Normally I'll get 2-3 bars in my home office but it is now none at all. Both of us are on Digi, don't really think its the telco, but it surely the update that causes this problem.

lol it was serious since normal gripping the phone can cause dropped calls and lost signals, but this is certainly worse, a phone that can't perform as a phone.
