my turn for review...
i got this item almost 4 weeks back... TS was very kind to make the connecter for my car's ignition coil.. I'm using a datsun 120Y by the way. anyway, my datsun is using a 40kV sports coil with electric ignition on a 1.5L engine with weber carb. When i received the item, my car was on overhaul after 500,000km clocked on the meter. so i installed it on my wife's kancil which is using a 660cc carburetor engine with a 3spd AT. at first i installed it just before the ignition coil's ballast. by using a multimeter, i check the before and after voltage... before it was around 13V with engine running.. after added firestorm, the voltage was 28V. COOL! time for test drive.. the car definitely starts easier.. before it needs around 4-5 cranks for cold start. the carburetor was modded so there are no more choke. hard cold start is expected. now with fire storm only 2 cranks is needed. this car is running at around 17-18sen/km when i'm using it, and between 18-20sen/km when my wife uses it. on driving, car feels much lighter above 90kmh... WAY WAY much lighter.. i just need to lightly touch the throttle to maintain 110kmh. compared to before i need to press 25% throttle to maintain 110kmh. i only drives for 1 day. then my wife drive for the rest of the week. TS mentioned to me to installed it at the fuse box and not on the coil's ballast. so i move it into the car's fuse box replacing the engine's 15A fuse. the difference? on high speed i don't have the 90-110kmh acceleration like before... but on the rev range between 0-90kmh, the car feels slightly lighter... nothing much if compared to when i installed it to the coil earlier.. but improvement over the stock is there.. i'll say maybe around 10%? it was in my wife's car for 2 weeks plus... after the second refuel, to my surprise, it clock at 16.8sen/km! compared to my wife's driving before, that is around 2sen/km saved which translate to around 10% savings. BTW my wife's route involves stuck in jam for almost 30-40 minutes everyday. so higher consumption is expected. now my car's ready, i've installed it to my datsun... before the overhaul it was clocking 21.5sen/km constantly with BHP. after the overhaul, i test drive the car for 1 week on a fresh full tank of BHP... I did only a top overhaul and skimmed the engine head. i basically i increased the compression ratio slightly. on my house's multistorey carpark, i'll get engine knocking when i'm going up on second gear if my revs are below 1500rpm. now with the increased CR, i must go up at first gear to prevent damage to the engine... FC wise? was worse than before.. it was running at 22.8sen/km even after the carb tuning. so i installed the firestorm on the datsun and ran it for 1 week. I've just refueled this morning and the FC was astonishingly 20.8sen/km! another 10% savings! car feels very much lighter up to 6000rpm. the knocking on my multistorey car park before? no more! even when i climb a hill on 4th gear with rpm only 1500, there still no knocking. this week i'll try to drive conservatively as last week lots of high speed driving due to the new found power. this FC was clocked with full city driving. the best part? after i removed the firestorm from my wife's car, she complained that the car no power.. Added on June 13, 2012, 9:44 amBTW, before the overhaul i was using bosch IR fusion plugs... which suppose to be better plugs.. now i'm only using bosch super 4. QUOTE(AH HENG @ Jun 14 2012, 01:09 AM) Hi peter, when is ur trip to kl again? very interested on my all new kia sportage. Pls pm me the detail n price as well. Tq \Added on June 14, 2012, 1:32 am My 2011 kia sportage already install pivot mega raisin purple with ground cable, can i still install the firestorm ignition? Can use both in the same time? Tq lets see what i have on my car, Purple raizin - can feel engine is lighter NSR's quadcore spark plug cables - better top end rev stromberg - better pickup earth cables - better grounding, lesser light dimming during aircond switched on. DIY water injection - smoother high rev, can be substitute with methanol which gives additional 200rpm of power. DIY water tank bubbler - better idling and low end torque.. added firestorm, i still feel the effect. |
