Hi every one, I got my steelseries 7g this week, typing on it now...

I wasn't very good with typing, not very fast anyway,
my max wpm is 61wpm, record collected with a typing program called "stamina",

is there any way to train to type faster? any program recommending?

tips for using sand papers, you can uses it wet, it will become soft, and can curve into the key caps curved surface, and try to put a few layers of cloth below the sand paper when sanding it, try to hold the key caps on your hand and the cloths over the edge of the table, then sand paper on top of the wet layers of cloths, get the key caps and slide on the sandpapers surface with patient...

I normally sanding stones instead of plastic, I work also on pvc and acrylics, i uses 4000 and 5000 grits to sand them to mirror surface.

or you can try to get some sand sponges, which are thick like a dish washing sponges, and it is soft and you can bend it to the curves desired, and sand the curved key caps surface, for sand sponges I never uses water before.

Added on January 15, 2012, 11:44 pmnot that i want you to uses the 4000 5000 grits sand papers! just tips that you can use them wet and buffer it with wet clothes below. but

no cam @@ and I am not good at making evenly spread rough surface on anything.

But when plastics sanding are concerned,
i think the best place to ask is the hobby model toy shops right?
there is one in the Lowyat plaza?
and a few in the Time square.
I think there is few topics are about pvc and scaled car modeling in the lowyat forum?

It(keycaps) is PBT, known for harder in nature.

My guess is that it won't be too translucent. So don't expect a too visible BL trough it.

If you really look for simple and clear keycaps for BL, you can try the "Keycool white blank key", available through keycool's official taobao shop.

thank for the tip, a link would be much appreciated.

Cheap colored ABS replacement keycaps(less than RM20 each) for 37keys(alphabets, numbers and arrows).
Find some ppl to bulk with you and you can enjoy your "rainbow" keycaps for less than RM20. brows.gif

1. The one I stated is 37keys only, not full(104) keys.
2. The one I stated is ABS, not PBT.
3. The one you purchased is dyed, which also mean you should pay for the workmanship.

Both value and also serve(durability) different.
*
Do you mean i paid the correct price for the item?

And I m now starting to worry about the 6g/7g thing,
the 6gv2 have a long backspace but 7g has a short backspace!
they are selling 6g/7g key sets as a same package???

Topre Realforce 87U....

I am thinking to get one, but the price IS really scary @@,
So I m thinking to get one 2nd hand....
but no one is selling......

Thus, I am suggesting this, some one share part of the cost for the keyboard,
and I let he/she to use or test the keyboard for the first few months,
then I will buy the keyboard from them, is there any one interested in this?

Yes the Backspace is long. Quite weird to see the 7G is rather small.
*
Luckily the 6g and the 7g both have a small backspace,
I m getting a set of rainbow keyset from this seller who sell the set that can be uses on 6g and 7g...
I was afraid that set will come with a long backspace @@|||

@kaysa

I suggest you getting 86U instead if the price is restraining you too much. 86U is certainly cheaper than 87U. In case you want to be safer, getting the Numpad will be even cheaper, though can't deny the price is still stiff. whistling.gif

Getting a secondhand Realforce is somehow rare(impossible in Malaysia). Also I wouldn't suggest getting them too as if somehow the any switches are faulty, fixing them will not be as easy as fixing Cherry MX switch.

The price is stiff indeed.

YUPE jehehehe......lucky ler lol.  actually there is something more about the drama here, will let you know tonight with some picture.  will make the long story short later.  I off work 4.00 so after get back then I update you all.
Updated:

Yes all check it already he is really serious now typing on SteelSeries 6GV2.  The keyboard still look new & smell new look awesome without any scratch & dust on it so does the BAG.

1. My story is, TS send the keyboard to me first without me pay him anything since I don't trust him due to the item selling cheap you all know right how much this keyboard price+this include BAG huh brows.gif  first thing that come on your mind is CONMAN so does me. TS agree without second thought about pos laju it to me first then pay later a big applause to TS  rclxms.gif  so I'm surprise at first so okie lar I said to him after the item arrive & do some checking then I will pay him RM150 instead RM120 as we agree.  So the deal is done successful big thank to brain0empty (TS) I will pay him tomorrow morning.

2.  Before this I did asked for Bro. lucidlts to do COD for me but he can't due to different area.  Then after that I asked for Bro. Apis_Lualua at first he agreed but until the next day when TS want to COD at Pappa Rich @ Gardens at 12.30pm Bro Apis can't make it since he only COD during night day so I ask Bro. Apis discuss with TS at the end I think TS can't COD with Bro. Apis mention time since TS has a busy schedule.  so COD deal is cancel.

So that brought to the first story up there yeah.

Now just waiting for Bro. lucidlts Pre.Order the PLU-ML87 Blue switch from him.  icon_rolleyes.gif

I suspect this is a stolen one, since you say it look new and even smell new,
does it come with receipt? or box? and the ps/2 convertor? instruction manual?

if his friend ask him to sell, it should have the box and receipt.
if not it might be stolen stuff, you should investigate this, imagine the one who lost this item, he sure very sad.

suggest you ask the seller does he have receipt? or box? and the ps/2 convertor? instruction manual?
if he say no, he might be a thief.

you can check the serial number on the keyboard, and try to ask steelseries local distributor who bought this keyboard,
they should have record for warranty purpose, and tell them you suspect that this is a stolen keyboard
and try to get the contact of the original owner, then let him know you buy this keyboard from this guy,
and ask him should he wan to report to police.

just hope you are right about it,
but even a prize of a contest should come in a box right?
at least the instruction manual are in it?

if he who won a contest for a keyboard he would know the value of a 6gv2 no less...
"his friend" asking him to sell it for how much? 90?
why he can suddenly raise the price to 150?

From time to time in my fren's shop, ppl are bringing in this sort of "suspicious" item, like cell phone, laptop, psp and others, without charger, without box, without receipt, and such, they are most likely stolen stuff.

Some time my friend scare them off acting like he knew the owner of the item, like "this sticker on the box is stick on by our shop, and it belong to our friend whowho, you thief!" and they run off. leaving the item for us. @@

Its possible the owner put the manual and adapter, even the receipt in the bag.

My thought is not enter into a house and stole a keyboard, I think maybe the owner bringing it to the Cyber Cafe and got stolen in the Cafe.

Just being suspicious. Nothing more.

the pbt key caps found in taobao have many different names description in Chinese:
无刻 (unprinted? or should it be un-carved?)
侧刻 (side print? or should it be side carved?)
浸染 (dye? sublime dye?)
同刻 (same color carved? I think it is laser carved, but not fill with color?)
有刻 (carved??? what is this? only carved?
does it filled with color later? or is it printed?)
and such,

http://item.beta.taobao.com/item.htm?id=10093101518

I placed an order rainbow keycaps (6g/7g), and got it recently, I am quite happy with it.

The keycaps has words on it, but it is not carved in to it, nor like the original SS 7g's abs keycaps which are slightly bump up in the wording, I am not sure which one are mine, can any one give a clue?
