LOL... what a word to describe it...
Anyhow, i am still puzzled by how would a doubleshot translucent keycap would be.... but since it is made from both pieces, then it must be made from both TRANSLUCENT but different color plastic, then only the font would be visible....

The best chance is to get something like this. A 2piece design translucent keycap. Transparent stem(and font) doubleshot into black ABS.


EDIT: Oh wai, seems like doubleshot of translucent white + black ABS still cant achieve BL... May be 2 piece design is the only/best option...

what i'm thinking is why not make it something like ibm 2 layer key caps? top layer is the opaque material with the lettring hole, bottom layer is the trans material with lettering.

here's a fastest way, engraved the keycaps, fill the gap with ABS(mixed with phosphors)

And here, you have a cool looking keycap that doesn't even need LED to have backlit feature.

BTW, to those who want to harvest BL keycaps(or want a BL keyboard?), here is quite a good choice. 2nd hand TG3(quite well-known for a 2nd hand BL keyboard). Not the cheapest I had see (sometime much cheaper from EBAY USA) but Taobao is priced like that. Should be less than RM150 shipped.

I think many of you have the wrong concept of double shots.
IMO

Some inputs for your POV will be great.

Doubleshot = the use of two different colour plastic to mold a keycap.

If they are the same colour, it would be a normal(singleshot) keycap.

Full transparent/translucent keycap will look like these :

All of us already know that. We're talking about font being transparent while keycap are black or colored.

A more accurate name would be "Double Injection Molding"

Poison include, 100 "O"rings for 10RMB(if can found at local may be cheaper...), Stabilizer mod stem(not sure if it same with this(from WASDkeyboard)) and hell lots(i mean real LOTS!!!) of super poisonous metal(titanium and aluminium) keycaps(though not as thick as imsto one, it is much cheaper and the finish is so shiny )....

Most o-rings in Taobao are of the Buna-N 70A variant. Since there has not been much research into this on the Chinese side, I'd assume that these are the 70A variant as well.
Super shiny metal keycaps contain Lead. Also, they might oxidize very soon, unlike the Titanium ones. They are made by a shop called MKC.
Stabilizers are sold in the Guangdong shops as well. 10 Pairs for 10 RMB, plus I know another guy that can source it from PLU, which looks more like costar ones. Keycool's version looks a bit different.

Actually, the guangdong shop has cheaper keycool parts compared to this.
Plus the dyesub KBC keycaps are slightly expensive than imsto ones.

just ready RM400, don't need wait for poker, just grab KBTalking Pure 2nd Year Anniversary Edition, they have CNC Mill Aluminium casing. and full set PBT Keycaps white. (sad thing is POM keycap canceled, not posible for the moment)

lol, talk about toto, if i strike toto, i straight buy CNC Mill, and Plastic Molding Machine, and start producing doubleshot keycaps!

Ok, back on topic. I wonder how do they made the BL PBT keycaps(can be seen from GH)
Most BL keycaps are translucent plastic. Except they gonna pierce through all of the keys?
