I dig thru my parent's house store room and found this keyboard :-
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

I think it is an ancient keyboard during my 80286 era ( 1990-1991 )... it have a PC/AT BIG connector and with a few more digging, I even found a PC/AT to PS/2 connector adapter too..

Behind the keyboard got a switch to choose for 8088/80286 ... Made in Taiwan by Amconics Industry Corp....

Took it home, pull out all the keys and give it a nice cleaning and vacuum out all the dust.. and use a keyboard tester software to test it and ALL the keys still WORKS!!!  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

Is this a Cherry MX Blue from the colour of the switch..

This must be the oldest mechanical keyboard on this forum... hehe

Love the clicky feeling and really speed up my typing.. but also speed up my typo...
A questions, are the keycaps ALL compatible, I was thinking of changing the WASD keys to red colour for the fun of it...

Probably won't be the oldest keyboard in this forum. whistling.gif
Some ppl here having vintage keyboard fetish. Thus having some vintage keyboard as collection.

Somemore, any IBM Model M should be older than it.

LOL! I didn't know Cherry MX Blue existed such a long time ago!

Yup, Cherry MX switches especially Blue and Black are once quite common to be used in keyboard, especially for industry uses.

In fact, keyboard first existed as mechanical keyboard. Till the revolution and take over by rubber-dome due to the cheaper to be made to cut cost.

In early years of PC being commercialized(around 80), PC could easily cost over 10k. Keyboard and other computer parts cost over 300-400 around then.

I think this is an inevitable cycle that will befall on everything...
For example, the vegetables, first they were all grown with organic fertilizers, then as time advances and demand increases, switch to chemical and genetic modification to get more yield, after the technology becomes close to mature, then all complain it is not healthy and demand the old school method, thus reverting back to organic...
Games also, first are simple, low end graphic games, then becomes more and more complex with high resolution graphics... and now... those games that most people ( i mean the majority, not the gamers....) are those simple, low graphics flash games... or those mini games....

So i think this is natural.... for keyboards... no exception... first is mechanical, then need to jack up production and reduce costs, go rubberdomes... and now.... goes back to good old vintage mechs....

not here to brag about understanding or intelligence, just to share some thoughts with you guys... smile.gif

Sorry that currently we don't have a reseller at Shah Alam yet.
By base on distance calculation, the closes avail to your place is PJ Digital Mall C-zone or Subang jaya at ModernoPC, heavy arm Garajestore
But we shall have reseller locate at Klang soon. So that should be closer to you compare to PJ
