Why don't you take a printout of your house plan and seek the advice of the lighting shops? They would be able to advise based on the type of fittings and your ceiling height.
I did that with mine. They can suggest based on the type of lighting and the wattage of the bulbs to be use, etc.
Then you could always counter check their recommendation with another shop.
