2.0 engine same price with recon R35.. will it be more harder to choose since the depreciation rate is almost ironically identical..

the car look nice but dont know how it will fair in the market, besides the lack of service centre. The depreciation will surely be crazy

250 people in malaysia booked the car before launch...250!! thats alot...land rover malaysia does not sell that many cars in a year before this came out...i suspect it will be very popular and people will buy this over the Q5 now (Q5 quite common now so this should be too)....and the resale value can only increase with the number of cars sold...think bout it people...5 years ago you talk about volkswagen everybody go "resale value bad lah"....nowadays...VW doing so well and resale values got stronger...this is definitely a game changer for land rover malaysia...

different market segment lah bro.....

the person buying a evoque has different needs then someone buying a second hand r35.....

like that, u can say why buy a new m3 when u can get a second hand lambo =,=

probably could steal one for half price for a 2 year old one.

too bad malaysians don't take care of their cars well, it'll probably be pretty bashed up and missed services

I already knew the price will be RM300k++ before it came out.

Sime Darby is not that stupid pricing the car as much as Range Rover Sport.

Yeah cuz I was comparing US Lexus price...
The Lexus suv price around usd $35k and in Malaysia priced are already 350 k.
And evoque in US priced at 45k area so I though should be more than 350k.
But yeah I think evoque will be competing with Q5,Rx, cayenne etc ....still I don't think much malaysians will go for this cuz land rover doesn't seem very popular and rare to spot on the roads

this car won't be a logical / rational choice. ppl will choose it because it hits every button in their hearts, it WILL be an impulse purchase, once u see it in the flesh, and if u have the money, u WILL place a deposit right there. I mean if u r in the market for an SUV with that kind of budget, u wouldn't have chosen those fugly Q5, Toyota (Lexus), Porsche (breaks the record for the ugliest design in the history) or whatever. If u choose any of these instead of the Evoque, it means u don't have any kind of passion in your life anymore, and are waiting to die. It's a cruel way of saying things but it's the truth, and truths are very cruel sometimes

Lol yeah I totally agree that porche cayenne is not a very good looking car....actually I don't like all porche model exept for panemara?
And yeah if I got the money sure will get this evoque...too bad I'm still a student with no income sad.gif
Maybe after I graduate that time the evoque second hand will be cheaper....u guys think need how many years to drop to 200 k?
Evoque still seems like a dream car we cannot afford for poor ppl like me....better stick with the 'possible and affordable' new Toyota fortuner.

if you look in mudah or autotrader, a used 3 year old land rover loose about RM200k in value regardless of what model.

heck, a used 2008 Freelander 2 is now RM80k++ where a brand new will cost you RM270k++.

That is RM190k in depreciation!!!

that's partly because they are not popular cars in malaysia...if the evoque is popular...it's likely that we gonna see a hike in resale values...cross finger....speaking about used land rovers....particularly range rovers..if you can afford to buy a new range rover...then you can afford to lose the money....

Fortuner uses ancient technology. Same goes to Pajero Sport. A quite luxury suv with a ladder frame chassis ? C'mon almost all SUV uses Monocouqe construction.. Summore using old tech & unpowerful engine....

In that price range, better go for the new Sorento or Santa Fe.. Test drive & u know the different... nod.gif

Hmmmm, not much news about the Evoque in the past 1 year but only now did I managed to test one. The 2.2litre turbo diesel drove like a normal sedan (well, minus the diesel clatter) .... but can be a bit challenging when trying to look for fuel at the end of the month when petrol stations run out of diesel. Anyways, here's what I think about it:

Not impressed by the Ford 2.2L diesel in the Freelander 2/Evoque (SD4 versions). It was thirstier than expected in the FL2, and also in the Evoque. Perhaps it has something to do with the 6-speed gearbox in both cars. 2014 Evoque will have a 9-speed gearbox aimed to reduced FC, so perhaps that is being addressed.
