One question here, is the web browser fast for surfing Internet?

Because I always surf the net. It is more convenient to use SGS-2 to surf if it is fast.

Thanks.

da speed is very much dependent on network mode..gsm or higher class 3g+,
Maxis n Celcom will giv u da best result as their download speed exceeds 1mb.

also equally imp is signal strength eg. umobile with good signal u can get maxium download speed of 10mbps yawn.gif

my old bb 9780 loads webpages quite fast with 3g.. thanks to compressed data from bb server ...
*
Dependent on wifi as well if I am using wifi? Unifi will be the best?

Thanks!

so far what i know maxis is the best(correct me if im wrong)
and also see where u at, signal, bla bla bla
*
But, I used Symbian phone before. The Internet speed is slow on that symbian phone. But I was using maxis that time. Why? hmm.gif

U said it will only be affected by network?

Thanks.

Oh? That's weird.... was using CheckRom for a while... no issues like that yet... hmmm... if that happens, might revert to ol' trusty Cognition1.5.1. which was by far stable as hell for me... just tak tahan menge-flash ROMS especially when they mentioned how the 2.3.5. had better battery life.

but... calls are still good.
Compared to?

Browser speed of SGS-2 being compared to .....e.g. iPhone 4/4S.

Thanks.

Dude your comparison is getting ridiculous, why do you want to compare browser speed in a PC with a phone?
Do you compare the speed of a bicycle with a car?
*
Actually, I don't own a SGS-2. I just want to know which is faster. Because if they are as fast as each other, then, it will be convenient because I don't have to take out my laptop to surf the Internet.

Comparing (independent of network speed)

Dude, high time you download Titanium Backup. It saves you. That's right... it's like your savant. Download now!
Dude... Please don't tell me your computer is also dual-core 1.2GHz... hahahhaa...

cannot la dude... of course la chrome is faster. unless it's chrome on a pitiful netbook la.
*
Oh, I know what u meant. Thanks. smile.gif

But, I find my iPod touch 4g browser is as fast as my google chrome on PC.

The browser rendering speed is fast on the Galaxy S2 and it is enough and decent for everyday use in standard browsing.
Depending on what kind of websites you surf, you might as well stick back to your laptop. Eg. Playing flash game.
If you are only reading news and updates etc, everything works fine in GS2.
*
But, SGS-2 has full flash. I will encounter lagging when playing flash games like FarmVille on SGS-2?

Thanks.

The browser is quite fast even on my EDGE connection. And youtube is quite smooth too. Rarely buffer.

Still depends to telco coverage etc.

For a SGS2 newb, my main concern now is the battery life. My batt was at 50% when I went to sleep, then woke up to a battery alert, 9% already!!!
*
50% becomes 9%!!!??? blink.gif really terrible.

U r using non-g? G version is better for saving battery life?

I think I know why, last time I restored all apps + data. This time I restored missing apps + data. So my browser must have been restored last time...

My netbook is an AMD C-50 dual core 1GHZ. Scrolling wise with heavy flash, the S2 wins, but playing back 1080p mkv's the PC wins, SO this proves that the phone CPU is way faster, just my GPU in my PC can decode the 1080p mkv so it only utilises like 30% of the CPU ( and this is with HDMI out to my 1080p Bravia)
*

U meant i will encounter lagging when playing 1080 videos on SGS-2?

Thanks.

I don't know about him but 1080p mkv video plays smoothly in my SGS2.
But I only do that once for testing, there is really no reason to play 1080p video in a phone which is only 480p.
Play 1080p in a Full HDTV instead biggrin.gif
*
U meant the 1080p video playing on SGS-2, the graphic is very poor?

When objects moving fast, can u see pixels?

Thanks.

Another question here,

When I want to play a 1080p video on the SGS-2 which only has 480p resolution, how does that 1080p video fit into my 480p screen?

1080p videos being played on 480p screen is worsening/increasing the quality of that 1080p videos?

But seriously speaking, why do people want 1080p resolution on a phone ANYWAY? While is arguable that whatever PPI retina is at is "the limit of human perception", 1080p, even in a 5 inch screen is SO FAR BEYOND that limit it's ridiculous.

It's like, your eyes can't tell the difference anyway lol.

But, seeing that Apple is DEAD SERIOUS on putting DOUBLE RETINA on the iPad 3... doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

They're gonna drown us in so much techmarketing that "sharper then life" is gonna be something you NEED.
*
Btw, how does it capture full HD videos?

Shouldn't the max resolution of videos it can capture is 480p?

Thanks.

Sg2 comes with dual microphone isit for noise reduction? I wonder, there is a tiny hole above the volume control buttons. What isit?
*
When u turn on the loud speaker while calling, that microphone will be activated.

When you are recording videos, it will be activated as well.

Please read the user manual.

Which is which now? Top next to 3.5MM is used for recording video or the side on top of the volume cradle?

The top next to 3.5mm is the microphone. The one above the volume buttons is for phone strap.
