whenever i try to sync my phone with my Outlook contacts via Kies, Kies just crash every time.

Sometimes, Kies will even crash once the phone is connected to Kies.

I've tried to uninstall and reinstall Kies and have used the latest Kies version but still cant seem to get Kies to sync Outlook contacts properly.

any one has an idea how to solve this?
*
personally, I found kies useful only to allow me to connect phone to pc via usb. the rest of the function including flashing firmware failed on me.

I can suggest a workaround for you. sync your contacts with gmail. then expert from gmail and import into outlook.

mine 100% before sleep, wakeup 8 hours later only drop to 99%..if you on wifi, sync email, fb, etc...sure it a lot of battery...

All wifi, gps is off. No FB, just WhatsApp and sometimes YM.

Active sync would be Gmail and Hotmail.

Thats all.

Installing BetterBatteryStats app now. Hope to find the culprit/s.

U meant the 1080p video playing on SGS-2, the graphic is very poor?

When objects moving fast, can u see pixels?

Thanks.

No, what he means is running 1080p videos on a 480p screen is ridiculous. And why wouldn't it be? It's honestly a waste of time to even play 1080p videos on the "retina" screen of the 4s as retina IS NOT 1080p resolution either.

It's like playing bluray movies on an old CRT TV.

Plug to HDTV and THEN play 1080p movies. Then it's worth it.

Honestly, I RARELY surf with my laptop these days, as the SGS2 can handle 90% of whatever I throw at it already.

This was never the case with my old iP4, because - let's face it - flash OWNS the Internet. Almost every other website is flash enabled and even with Puffin Browser the iP4 is useless when you stumble onto a site with heavy flash elements.

Speed wise? Of course the laptop wins. iP4 also has a very tiny speed advantage but heck, it doesn't run flash. If course it's faster.

Another question here,

When I want to play a 1080p video on the SGS-2 which only has 480p resolution, how does that 1080p video fit into my 480p screen?

1080p videos being played on 480p screen is worsening/increasing the quality of that 1080p videos?

playing 1080p movies on sgs2... from what I conclude, depends very much on the your of encoding. if I'm not mistaken, files like mkv can be encoded in different 'ways'.

when I tried with a movie recently, it didn't seems a fast or as smooth as it should be. but it wasn't jerky. in that file I tested, no audio came out. so I suspect it's very much dependent on how it was encoded.

I have tried smaller 1080p movie trailers and they played fine.

I'll try different files and report my findings.

as for why use 1080p files in sgs2, for me, its out of convenience. I already have that file. dun wanna have to spend time having to look for a dvd version just to watch on my sgs2.

Again, like playing bluray on a CRT TV. Which is gonna be the same even when you play that file on an iP4s.

The difference is the SGS2 is like a kick ass flat screen CRT with deep blacks. While the iP4 is a tiny, marginally sharper CRT.

The picture will extend beyond your screen, the phone will produce a silicon mist and then project a holographic image of the movie that cannot fit onto the physical screen.

obviously will get resize to fit la, common sense la, you play 1080p on 720p laptop screen also same la. wont increase wont decrease, just not worth the space to playback on that screen, better off connect to tv and play.

you watch 480p and 1080p in sgs2 no difference wan unless the 480p is low quality and has low bitrate, then maybe 1080p resized will be sharper than the 480p. since 480p=1080p in SGS2 why put in such a big size video file 1080p when you can put in a much smaller 480p. that's what people been trying to tell you doh.gif

easy way for you to understand... from the small screen on sgs2, the movie should look fine. won't really be able to tell if the quality dropped or improved.

But seriously speaking, why do people want 1080p resolution on a phone ANYWAY? While is arguable that whatever PPI retina is at is "the limit of human perception", 1080p, even in a 5 inch screen is SO FAR BEYOND that limit it's ridiculous.

It's like, your eyes can't tell the difference anyway lol.

But, seeing that Apple is DEAD SERIOUS on putting DOUBLE RETINA on the iPad 3... doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

They're gonna drown us in so much techmarketing that "sharper then life" is gonna be something you NEED.

for me, as I explained earlier, is just for convenience sake. already got that file, might as well use it, if possible. dun wanna have to look for another version if the same movie.

Unless they have the wire to wire the phone to a 1080p TV to look at the difference on that TV... For some to show off the phone supports 1080p playback... icon_idea.gif

While mostly 1080p video came from BluRay, the great audio should be 5.1 channel which mostly will make the file size over 4GB, which was over the limit for a file in the FAT32... But if you do have any 1080p under 4GB, just put it in and watch it and hope that there's no hiccup along the playback... icon_idea.gif

yes its ridiculous but the emphasis is SGS2 can play it no problem. i myself dont play 1080p, dont have so much storage space to put it shakehead.gif usually just chuck in a few 720p anime to watch while traveling coz lazy wanna convert, that's the goodness of it. icon_idea.gif

Btw, how does it capture full HD videos?

Shouldn't the max resolution of videos it can capture is 480p?

Thanks.

Woih, I actually enjoy watching crappilicious 480p anime streams on my Samsung HD Plasma, simply because I can lie down and enjoy the big-ness.

Plus the SGS2 actually upscales crappy video pretty well really.
