anyone ever take advantage of the soflam? Jesus christ there is a bug on a certain map that i can just place my soflam on the highest point of the map without even getting noticed. sometimes i laze the target for a full 3 minute and nobody takes action. Nobody plays engineer meh??? that whole round only got 1 time people actually take advantage of my soflam. *face palm*

and why do i always get to be with COD rambo team, people running up to tanks and try to take it down with pistol? *face palm*

and nobody spots. +1 facepalm.

haha, my problem is i using the guilde missile ,n no 1 aim with me with soflam...so i give up using back shogun shell...

soflam can be placed anywhere on the map. You do not have to be next to the soflam to use it. As a matter of fact i usually place it in spot A and attack at spot B. If you mount the soflam the range will be longer, if not it can just be left on the ground unanttended and the soflam will auto laze target but the range is very short. However, if you mount it, there will be glare like sniper rifle, if left unattended on a good spot, its undetectable.

I always thought, when using javelin, need to keep aim on the tank for few seconds, risky. Tried that. Didnt even know soflam is actually a combo with javelin hmm.gif Even if know right now, still dunno how they work together laugh.gif

when soflam is locked on anyone can see that there will be a red square on tanks, jets, chopper, bots. You can even see when you are manning your main rifler, pistol or whatever. It will be a visibule red square. When you use a soflam + javelin the range is very long, it can be from one end of the map to the other end of the map it doesn't matter the javelin missile will just chase the lazed target. Also the target lazed with soflam takes alot more damage than just normal javelin.

so if you see target painted by soflam, take advantage of it. Instant lock on. No need point at the target just fire away and ur missle will be auto guided. Jets and chopper can work together with soflam as well, same principle.

http://battlefield.wikia.com/wiki/SOFLAM

The SOFLAM is a Recon gadget in Battlefield 3. It is deployed as a stationary weapon like the M224 Mortar but is used for laser designation of targets for guided weaponry. Once set into a suitable area, the player can control it remotely (like the EOD Bot or MAV). The SOFLAM is semi-autonomous and will designate targets even when unattended.

Even if other players cannot provide guided weaponry, the player still benefits from having a remote camera with which to spot enemies and range targets. The monochrome (black & white) day-vision camera has two levels of zoom. At the bottom of the display are azimuth (heading), range, and elevation metrics.

Enemies who discover the SOFLAM can destroy it.

if soflam lock on some target, like tank at army depot (firestorm map),i shoot my guided missile(tank) from office o warehouse ,i should shoot to sky let the missile find his target or i also need to aim same target that have been lock on even got something blocking my view?no even fire 1 guided missile even already unlock long time ago...

If the recon can get that far into the enemy base of course can. You just point to the sky and fire, provided that the soflam locks onto the target the whole duration that the missile is in the air, it will hit the target from one end to the other.

The problem is, if you manually use the SOFLAM the range will be very far (up to 200-400m+)but the downside is, there will be glare. If left unattended, the spot range is very short(no glare), maybe around 30m only.

target painted with soflam will be visible on the screen with the red square to other players. It can be behind the rock or building. However i am not sure if it will be visible on the map or not.

i am a 24/7 recon. LOL, only at level 11 though, but level 1 to level 11 i only use RECON because it is the hardest to play and i want to unlock the M98B first.

Then i will switch to easier type, medic and engineer, spam medic/ammo and mortars. easy peasey.
