For those facing camera problem or phone FC, may you tell us, what kernel are you used?

Now I'm downloading JVU from www.sammobile.com , thinking to use CF-Root kernel and give some modifications from this URL: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...49&postcount=71

Huu... I just got back my SGS from service, lost RM430 for my hard bricked SGS. They replace some board attached with mother board. Hard brick happened when I try flash XXJW1 without .pit file about a week ago.

Did you do a clean flash? I suggest you click restore factory (rfs) setting on the phone for current Rom, then wipe cache/data, flash with ODIN for rom XXJVU provided by Ramad. After booting, make (rfs) once again and try your front camera. You may like to unmount your external SD while flashing. If not, maybe hardware failure or my suggestion 'failing' you. But it's worth to try...=)

Try the latest Semaphore JVU beta to fix the front camera capture issue, will lose 3mb due to the features though

Does anyone know the risk of flasing rom with your battery at around 50%? I wanted to flash a new rom right now but i'm not sure about doing it since there are some developers advice to flash while the battery is full

sorry for my noob but i have to ask some questions here. my wife is using galaxy s n has been complaining it's lag..even compared to my galaxy w, my w is better. she's on stock rom, firmaware 2.3.3, baseband I9000DXJV9, kernel version 2.6.35.7-19000DXJV9-CL216763 root@SE-S604 #2, build no GINGERBREAD.DXJV9.
i have been reading the 1st page of this thread for like so many times but seriously i dont know where to start. i wanted to install custom rom which is debloated, lag free n fast, just for simple everyday use. i know i have to root 1st.
can please someone here just tell me 1 quick way to install a custom rom? there are so many ways/method/roms/kernel from the 1st page, i dont know which 1 should use.

XXJVU(2.3.6) is the latest and probably best of all. For beginners, these are the best firmware to try.
Procedure
1. Download XXJVU
2. Download Odin and .pit files here
3. Flash it by odin. Use 512 pit file and tick re-partition.

i just flash Semaphore 2.5.0scbm, but the front camera still not working. Need wipe or do anything?
