I noticed some players are using this thing called Mumble for in game voip. Care to share your experiences here? I downloaded it but don't know how to use it and never got the chance to use it with anyone yet.

1. You guys really actively use voip to communicate orders and dangers in game?
2. Is it easy to use? Do you have a mumble server somewhere or you don't need to connect to server?
3. Worth it to get a mic to talk?

Sounds kinda cool to be able to talk to your squadmates in game, but my past experience with voip chat in bf is that we only use it during tournaments.

EDIT: Yeah I do have a mic and would find it awesome if I can get in a squad with people talking and stuff.

Mumble is something like Ventrilo, you will need to create a server for it for better bandwidth + sound quality with a lot of peoples in a single server, i play WoW/CSS/SC2 and uses Ventrilo quite a lot, and the quality are superb and voices are LAN-like, its just like people are talking side by side with you and no delays.

And yes, its SUPER recommended to get a mic for this kind of game, works very great, and i've seen people in BF3 actually working as a squad, i mean REAL squad, i assume they are using these software to communicate well.

IINM, MBT are using Mumble.

haha I know, right? Seine Crossing. Mortars. Tanks. MBT. That's all I have to say on that case. Those of you who were there that night KNOW what I mean!

I got a good clip-on mic and I wanna put that to good use. I play with headphones on so people I talk to won't get game noises when I talk. I know about ventrilo and that was from WoW. I tried mumble and was quite surprised I dont have to talk very loud to make sure it runs. It seems very detailed on setup. Not sure if I set it up correctly pun.

PM me if you're interested to join a voip-only private BF3 squad. So far got three persons. Language : Malay + English rojak.

if need to use voip, you and your friend has to be in the same team and at the same the same squad

if auto balance kick in after each round and your friend got kick to opposite team then no point to communicate

and let's say to chat with everyone in a platoon, everyone have to be at the same side, which is pretty hard

Usually ppl use mumble when they got like clan or guild, some ppl that can see online everyday.

I use back the voice community provided by BF3, kinda nice, but like every other software, it get really mess when 5-7 ppl talk at the same time.
