TBH I see it as $5 wasted as we won't play the game anyway. Might save that money and wait for the games that we want imo. I usually buy if I am sure to play it before the next sale comes. But that's just me and sometimes I went overboard too.

I just joined steam june this year, i have seen at least 3 times steam offering such discounted price for L4D.

One is in summer(double pack for $9.99, i forgot)
One is in Halloween,
And this one.

i guess, this will be offered again in xmas sales.

L4D2 is very old now, so this game have been on sales very often, and it will be on sales many times more. Generally, its best to wait for discount during major sales event for old games.

And speaking of sales event, there is one coming up in a week time or two, the traditional xmas mega sale on Steam. So most people won't buy anything during this time of the year, We'll wait for this xmas sales. And you should too. Last year it was a 2 week event, so if its the same, we should see the xmas sales starting on the 19th December, very soon.

to my knowledge..steam doesn't charge any additional charge for game price bought by visa (correct me if i'm wrong).
but while greenman gaming and gamersgate i'm not sure..
