Anybody applying for this post, or anybody currently holding this post? I applied for it already through SPA website. I am an aviation geek, and a pilot is too far for me to reach right now. So this post is the nearest I can get to work in the field of my dreams

I am applying for the officer post, A41 grade. There will be exam, test, an interview and about one year plus of training at the academy. Currently studying like hell, reading everything I can find about ATC and the SPA exams.

I know about the pressure and the risks. But I figured since I have a passion for aviation, things will work out ok. Calculated stress level, so to speak. I suppose that's better than working in a field with absolutely no stress at all, but you're working just for the sake of working, without any passion at all?

The job is definitely stressful, that I have to agree with. But hey, if you're really into it, once you start polishing your skills, trust me mate, you'll love the job. Where u at now currently anyway?

It's been confirmed by various sources that there will be a new intake this year for this post. Estimated registration at the academy in May. Anybody else applying?

It will be like your typical SPA exam to enter govt service. But with some aviation questions. Read a bit on aircrafts and also the airlines industry in Malaysia. Maths questions are more towards testing ur IQ.

They need the most number of personnel in Klang Valley (KLIA, KLIA2, new Air Traffic Management centre in Sepang) but you can also be posted to Kuching and KK, both with control centres. But for the first posting I think it will be in Klang Valley.. They want to give you the exposure first.

Just sharing my experience during my interview. My SPA panel was Dato' Mohd Zain Mohd Dom. Unlike other SPA panels, he surely knows his aviation stuffs. The DCA panel only asked one question. The rest came from Dato'. The questions are:
Describe what do you know about this job.
How do you handle the pressure if an aircraft declares mayday and needs ur help in landing?
If u give a wrong instruction and the plane is about to hit terrain, what is the pilot's responsibility?
Your instructions contradict with the instructions from the plane's onboard safety systems. Which one should the pilot follow?
You say you really love aviation. What if after 19 years you lose your interest and becomes bored with the job. What should u do?

any age limit for the job? what's the starting pay like for degree holder?
*
No age limit, but training can be really taxing so you might wanna take that into consideration. Starting pay is the same as other govt posts, but ATCOs enjoy some allowances not available to other govt services.
