Need everyone advice here especially those who have experience in driving Hyundai Atos as I'm not sure how's the good is the car.

Recently shopping for used car as my 2nd car. At first thinking bout Kenari but the sales guy told me better take Atos which the price very much lower than Kenari. Year 2004, RM10k, manual, i check no accident before, original paint but abit scratches. Overall nice interior and exterior. With 2 week warranty. Sales guy claim that Atos absorber are very much better than Kenari.

Is it worth buying?

yaya rclxms.gif ... maybe different people got different style of driving maa...this also affect fc alsoo...
for TS i agree on one thing bout atos...underpowered...test it....u will know it....maybe heavy weight...
maybe thats why handling not like sampan...but overall i prefer japan over korean....if and only if halfcut korean
plenty around here than perhaps i change my mind..hehe biggrin.gif

atos not sure
kenari 4 gear auto

to get a second hand car cheap
u will need to consider the cost of ownership for future
i got no comment on atos coz i do not own one
i do own kenari tho. one thing part are easily found.
i am not saying kenari part are cheap. for me if compare with iswara, kenari parts are expensive sad.gif

maybe u want to ask around the service shop or sparepart shop
compare absorber, timing belt, radiator, bearings, belts and etc price
dun worry they will gladly tell U the price.

handling yes good..not floating maybe due to the heavy body..but reliability i dont know..my father owned one and so many problems..but if u look on the road, quite a lot of people still using it..so maybe my father's one is not very lucky..if u want to buy, i think the 1.1 should be better..the 1.0 is underpowered thus make the engine struggles especially on the highway when hill climbing..

My cousins are using Atos.So I know few things about this car.
From my observation :

Cousin 1,Atos 2002:
Decent FC,low power (kancil 660 can easily beat this car),gearbox problem(repaired the gearbox last month for RM2.3K)

Cousin 2,Atos 2000:
Decent FC,more powerful than Atos 2000(but engine is noisy),gearbox problem(previous owner changed gearbox)

My 2cent is better get Kancil/Kenari or better Kelisa.

All said it sucks on petrol like there is no tomorrow.
Is the DVVT version better or manual for the previous version. rclxub.gif

You said the myvi 1.3l same engine in heavy kerb weight of kembara should help much on better FC?

Added on February 12, 2012, 10:31 pmActually kenari is much better on internal boot space.
If you don't mind about the FC in town of Ron95 @ 19-20 cent per KM in kenari auto.

That is better considering it.
Guaranty you no regret of kenari auto.

In highway is drove for 110-120km still consider safe,
Cause the meter only max at 160km,

How fast you need?

I drive an atos but its normal one la.and normally i drive highway from Muar to kl or muar to Melaka. And for the price it shud be considered very worthwhile. But still its really underpowered but once it gets going the ride is really smooth.Drive can reach 120 but 130 and above the car starter to feel unstable. The fact that the fc is not tat good compare with other compact car ( still better than big car) is due to its heavier weight.which for me is important bcoz of the height of the car.Door handles does spoilt occasionally but the rest is quite ok.And i like the interior also.

dun buy kenari though if fc is important to you.

why not saga or wira?its better for long journey.

hi, i've sold off my atos 2002 AT last year. if its properly maintained, its a pretty reliable car. so far no problems with it.
only downside is: underpower..
in terms of handling/stability, built quality - its much better than kenari. (i used to hav a kenari so i can cnfirm on this)

u hav 2 be very careful when choosing a used atos..
- preferably with service records..
- check carefully if its well maintained by previous owner. check engine internals "free from sludge"
- radiator water - "make sure water condition is not rusty..
- sign of oil leak..

hi. I have been driving Atos prima for 5years. I bought rm27k year 2004. Now u going to get it only 10k? walao so cheap. The car im using now consider save fuel if compare other other. So far i dont have prob with the engine. The major prob is the door handle easily broken. i have changed for a few times and the price was rm40 i bought direct from hyundai supplier so it ori. The cap ayam also cost rm40 at car accessories. Door lock faulty left back door now never use. Few workshop can't repaired. bonet door cannot open by push button at driver pos so use key everytime. Had to change radiator fan when i was driving non stop from kl-terengganu. Got overheat once on that time. Now if i long driving i must stop at rnr for two times for cool the engine.
The pickup not so power la if u force to speed up it may consume more fuel. I' been driving to genting a lot no prob, only slow la dont force it to speed up more.
