Jeremy Clarkson cheated on his wife, with his ex-wife

Jeremy Clarkson has dramatically lifted a gagging order preventing his ex-wife from claiming they had an affair after he remarried.
The Top Gear presenter won an injunction last year banning Alex Hall from revealing intimate details of their relationship, including allegations that they had sex after Clarkson wed his second wife Francie.
At the time the father of three could be described only as ‘a married TV star’ and his first wife’s identity was kept secret as he became the latest figure to use the courts to protect his privacy.
Today 51-year-old Clarkson decided to unmask himself after concluding: ‘Injunctions don’t work – it’s pointless.’ Yet he still refused to discuss Mrs Hall’s claims.
Clarkson married Mrs Hall, now 46, in 1989 but they parted after less than two years. He married Francie, now 50, in 1993.
He went to the High Court last autumn, when his mother Shirley was seriously ill.
The gagging order he took out prevented his ex-wife from publishing ‘information to the effect that AMM (Clarkson) and HXW (Hall) have had a sexual relationship since AMM married his present wife.’
The injunction also banned details of ‘sexual or other intimate acts or dealings’ between the couple, confidential information about Clarkson’s ‘sexual life, his relationship with others, his private thoughts and feelings, his health or his financial affairs’.
It banned specific facts ‘about the way the marriage ended and the reasons for it, and the private behaviour of AMM towards HXW in that connection’.
It prevented Mrs Hall revealing details of ‘any private letters, text messages, emails, telephone calls … private meetings or conversations’ between her and Clarkson.
The BBC man’s ‘motormouth’ outbursts have frequently provoked controversy. He explained his court action by saying: ‘I dish the dirt out and I can take it. But why should my mother and children have to take it?
‘In 20 years I have taken any number of stories, most of which are not true, without a murmur of complaint. But some stories you have to draw the line and say No.’
Despite the injunction, Clarkson’s name soon began to surface on the internet. He also found himself the subject of headlines earlier this year accusing him of having an affair with TV colleague Phillipa Sage, followed by suggestions that his marriage was under strain.
