Yeah.. very funny how they operating..

Thank God after worked around 6 only I can mange to get in touch with the doctor. He say the cat is recovering, start to eat and bla.. bla.. bla..

The weird thing he says, the cat maybe cna go back after 3-4 days. Then when I mention that I have paid for 5 days in advance for the deposit, will they refund the balanced of the payment,.. then he change the story saying maybe the cat need to stay for another 5-6 days in advance for observation!. Oh AMC.. AMC..  yawn.gif  yawn.gif  yawn.gif

This is the photo I took last night around 9pm after we came back from office and visit.

Fyi: this cat came to our house one night and is very dirty, hungry and not friendly. We took the cat, shower it, take care of it.. now after almost 8 month it start to became the most 'manja' and friendly cats in our house.

hi,

Can anyone recommend which type of litter is flushable, clumping, and good to cover smell? am using Catsan clumping, but the shop said sand is not flushable, also the smell cannot really cover.

tried wood pellets, but the kittens don't like it as they cannot dig like how they do it with sand. so, i am mixing both now. to my convenience, looking for flushable and cats like the feel of it tongue.gif

Thanks!

Most clumping litters are not flushable because they will clog your toilet. There are flushable clumping litter, for example this one. However, as far as I know, it required large amount of water to dissolves. I use both clumping & pine wood litters. Clumping litter for my indoor cats & pine wood litter for my outdoor cats. When I said outdoor cats, I means the ones that clever enough to climb in into the garage through the ceiling. They like to take a nap in there, especially at night & poop/pee in there too. Using clumping litter for them will not economical, so I switched to pine wood which last four times longer than clumping litter.

Training cat to use non-sand type litter will be difficult, depends on the cat too. Mixing both sand & wood litter are not good idea because it will prevent the sand litter from clumping properly. You will need to throw the whole thing in the litter box & replace with fresh litter. Pine wood or any wood litter, required different litter box like this one. When trying to train them to use pine wood litter, in addition to the clumping litter, I put another litter box with pine wood litter in it. It takes a couple of days before one of the cat pee in the pine wood litter box. After a week, it's obvious cats will always want to use sand type litter. So, what I did is removed the clumping litter box & leave only pine wood litter box. On the next day, I see that some of the cats pee & poop in it but some of the cats still not comfortable using it, pee & poop outside the litter box. It take a while, a couple of weeks if not mistaken before they all pee & poop in the pine wood litter box. Sometime, rarely, some of the cats relapse & pee outside the box. So far they didn't poop outside the box. Currently I have three pine wood litter box for four outdoor cats.

So far I have no success in training my indoor cats to use pine wood litter. Mostly because lack of time for me to monitor & train them. I have one pine wood litter box inside the house & sometime one of the cat will pee in it. Basically, it will need a lot of patience & time to train them. Initially, they will poop & pee outside the box. It's normal.
*
Really thanks for your long explanation. Initially, I tried pine wood solely as recommended by the shop, due to being newbie in rearing cats, i just took his advice. The kittens poo and pee everywhere except the litter box. found out the previous owner was using sand litter instead. Later, quickly changed to sand so that they would do their business inside the litter box. To my amuse, they really prefer sand type. They are indoor all the time as I m living in apartment. I will try to put another litter box with pine wood to test it again. Hopefully can train them up. Finger cross. Cheers

Hi guys,

Recently my newly adopted kittens got some fleas! I got really freaked out as I am worried the fleas will hop everywhere around the house into my furniture, bedding and etc. Done with washing and spraying carpets with dettol. Will it kill the fleas??

I tried some home remedy like applying garlic and lime juice on its fur but it didn't help. The fleas are so stubborn and stick to the fur. Then I used liquid soap+light on at night near the area where my pets play around, only caught few fleas. Not sure if it's the light not warm enough to attract them OR there are just not many fleas yet.

Somehow, the vet did not detect it during my last visit. mad.gif Called up two vets, one asked me to use FRONTLINE immediately, the other said FRONTLINE is only for prevention(my existing vet), should use spray instead for current situation. Which one should I go for??

my cats stay indoor all the time by the way. Really wondered how they got it.

Anyone here had same experience?

actually how do you know if your cat has fleas? I always check my cat to see if there's fleas and I still don't know how! They said I'll see the droppings n all but i didnt..
*
mine are very obvious when I check through their fur(the skin on the belly and groin). The fleas will run around the fur very fast especially when you try to pull it out. I haven't got a flea comb as I did not see this coming. You can use alcohol to check on your cat's neck, armpit, and base of the tail. When the flea drops on the floor, it will hop very fast. The flea is dark brown, almost black color.
Two weeks ago, there was one bug dropped off from my kitten, I did not think it was a flea. Now they have got a few on their fur. It's really gross! vmad.gif

The sad part is I have to quarantine them for some time. Poor little creatures sad.gif

oh god @_@
so fleas are brownish black? actually i saw last time on my old cat's fur there were WHITE very small critters walking around. is that flea too? i used frontline again and again and it's still there. they ever ever hop before just moving slowly on the fur.
*
Are you using Frontline spot-on OR spot-on Combo? 'Cause Combo can kill fleas+ticks+tapeworm too. White critters I am not sure. Did you visit a vet to give it a check? I think is better to do so instead of wasting money on Frontline endless time and it's not killing the "thing"! cry.gif

i think i used the combo  sweat.gif  yeah i'm bringing my cat to vet end of this week because she's not using the litter box to poop no matter what. i think she have some problem pooping and associated it with the box =/
*
did you change the litter to different types? she does not use the litter box even if it's replaced with clean litter entirely? at first, I had similar problem when I switched to another type due to bad odour control. They would pee outside of the box. Then I switched back to sand, they did their business back in the box. When they think the litter box is not clean enough for them, they would do it outside also. Another possibility is having illness, fingers cross. Hope your kitty will be back to normal soon.

Now I got bitten by the fleas all over my leg up to my waist! darn the fleas no matter how clean I keep my house and kittens still could not escape from this evil creature mad.gif

there's a frontline spray for fleas! i used it to spray the carpet and cat bedding last time  biggrin.gif

Yeah I did change the litter, but it's not a new problem. =/ even last time she would pee in the litter and do big business OUTSIDE!!  mad.gif
I tried retraining her again and again but it's not working (actually getting worse) so i think i should bring her to the vet now.  cry.gif  hopefully its just a constipation problem or smth!
*
so strange huh.. normally cats are smart enough using litter box. thank god! have you tried relocating the litter box? they need privacy doing biz tongue.gif

yea i got the frontline spray. but before i managed to get it, already got bitten mad.gif

how old is your kitty? what food you have been feeding? any change of diet?

yeah i relocate it like 4 times! I really don't know if I did everything wrongly or what.  cry.gif  cry.gif  I'm at the end of my wits (is this the right proverb lol) and my mom even said she'll throw her away if she continue to misbehave!

my kitty has been with me since I was 17. so... 5 years. but i picked her up from the street when she was already an adult though.  sweat.gif  so i don't know her exact age.

this is her 1 or 2 years back  biggrin.gif

quite a nice kitty you have there... biggrin.gif

Did the Frontline work on your carpets/furniture? I suspect the fleas already cover my bed area as they play around my bed too, basically the whole house. I only got the bites the next day I woke up from bed. been vacuuming everywhere, still feeling they are living on everywhere in my place. sigh..

that was like 6 years back when I used it i think. I changed my bedsheet instead of spraying it. i did spray carpets and furniture too because my cat does sit around the house! I heard cat fleas can't live long feeding on humans so in the end they will have to go back to your cat; so i guess keep treating your cat!I used a kind of anti flea shampoo to bath my cat too.

i think my cat has constipation lol! i'm changing her diet to wet food instead because she doesn't drink much water! but i don't know if whiskers is good. I know whiskers dry food is horrible, but wet food should be full of fish right? =/
*
supermarket brands are not good for cats especially dry food according to my vet, as they contain more carbohidrat than meat which is not required by cats. Cats also cannot digest carb well. You mean "Whiskas"? Yes, wet food contains fish usually markerel/tuna. However, you should not feed tuna as daily basis. Besides she won't eat dry food later, tuna is not so good to cats in long run. I usually mix dry food with wet and add on water(3:1:2), so that they can get more fluid in their diet. Although my kittens drink a lot of water. can tell from the litter box. always wet sweat.gif I think Whiskas contains a lot of jelly which is not good for cat digestive system from online source. If you want to feed them canned food for temporary, you can try ProDiet or Quit. I think these two have less jelly and price is affordable too. Hope your kitty enjoy the food biggrin.gif

Hi, my friend just found an abandoned kitten this afternoon. It should only be about few days old as the eyes and ears aren't open yet and the umbilical cord is gone. I have a problem trying to feed it kitten milk that i got from the pet shop as it doesn't seem to want to drink it at all. The kitten milk is from TopLife and I warmed it a little bit through a water bath before feeding. I tried pushing the nipple gently into its mouth and dripping few drops in while placing it on my lap over a piece of towel but it just turns its head away. I'm concerned as I read that a kitten needs to drink at least 30+ cc of milk a day and this kitten hasn't drunk that much at all. Is it a problem with the milk, the bottle or my technique?Please help.
*
Is it possible look for mother cat for tumpang milk? I feed my kittens this brand, TURA. Can get from Aeon Jusco. They seem to enjoy it. But my kittens quite old already though.

i always feed my cat dry food ; blackwood. yeah those cheap brands really bad cuz they put a lot of corn inside. that's why i choose blackwood.
i have no knowledge of wet food lol lol.
(not sure if its royal canin now ._. but it's some premium food) once awhile but then nowadays i don't go petshop anymore so i bought 2 can of whiskas from a market near my house. now i'm not sure if i should let her finish eating it lol.  sweat.gif
*
You don't know which brand you are feeding your cat?? shocking.gif I think 2 cans wont do so much harm to her. Just add some water to it so the smell is not so strong. Otherwise, your Blackwood/RC can be given to me later.. biggrin.gif if you have time, try boil chicken meat. It's healthy and fresh. I think it's good for kitty.

ahahah cuz it's been some time i didn't give her any canned food. i think that's why she's having constipation or smth so i'm giving her canned food again.

dry food it's always blackwood laaaa.

my mom will kill me if i waste any chicken on my cat =/ my mom will only feed her some chicken when my mom cook steam chicken.
*
u tell your mom actually fresh chicken breast is cheaper than canned food. tongue.gif
1 piece of chicken breast can be used for 2meals if I mix with rice. maybe too little. but I do leave kibbles to them all the time. that costs less than 2ringgit for medium size. hehe...

QUOTE(llssping @ Aug 3 2013, 10:26 PM)
Hi,

I've posted a couple of weeks back regarding stray kitties appearing at my doorstep. It has since been 5 weeks and they are doing great!

First week. My bf named her Pui (means chubby in Hokkien) cause he wants her to be a chubby cat. And also it is much bigger compare to the other stray kitty. She is also always avoiding us.

[attachmentid=3568627]
(with the mother cat)

After 5 weeks, still growing. Getting more social with us. The mother has gone by now.

[attachmentid=3568629]
This is another stray kitty that followed my bf home from the park. We we got her she couldn't open her left eye and was so skinny.

[attachmentid=3568646]
Separated from Pui because she had the flu.

[attachmentid=3568648]
After 1 week of antibiotic, vitamins and eye ointment. Was worried that the eye was going blind because of a white film over it.

[attachmentid=3568650]
After 5 weeks, eye is all better! Getting fatter and very manja. We named her 'Kepo', because, she is very 'kepoh'. lol.
That's all! Just want to share =)

anyone heard of Healing Pets(vet) in damansara jaya?
i saw a thread recommending this vet in petfinder forum, but there're also a few negative reviews about this vet.

or The Vet at M avenue in segambut?

any cat lovers have experience or review to share?
i'm actually in Selayang and we just adopted a female stray cat, so we definitely need to bring her to the vet first, but we're quite concern about the reputation and also prices.

can anyone suggest us? sad.gif
also, usually how much does it cost to trim their claws, and bath?
coz for the first time we really want to see how the professionals do it so we can learn from it haha.
*
i can only suggest vet near PJ area if you want to. smile.gif
