hello
Just adopted an 8 month old male tabby. Neutered and vaccinated already. He is very playful but still likes to bite, problem is he is quite big already. Can anybody share with me if your cat has a biting issue and how to stop it or how long it will take for kitty to grow out of it ?
my brothers kids want to play with the cat, but its a problem if he bites ..

i recently adopted a 5 week old kitten (already have a 1year+ big boy kitty at home) so I checked on the internet and ppl say 1 litterbox per cat right? I supplied two boxes..and my kitten poos in the litter box, no problem ... but she pees on newspaper/plastic bag/under the sink. Any suggestions ? The litter box is also in the bathroom, so under the distance between under the sink and the litter box is not even 2 meters apart..

here are my kitties.

my kitten (adopted when she was 6 weeks, now she is 11 weeks) has this strange habit of eating bread. Normal ah ?

We feed her 3 times a day, mixture of wet and dry. I'm sure we are feeding her enough. But is there is bread on the table, even if it is still in the plastic she will tear the plastic until she can get the bread...

My other cat doesnt do that at all, I thought cats dont eat carbs . ...

Cats need protein not carb. Pls stop her from eating bread. That is not normal.

i thought cats know if it is good for them or not ? put the bread on top of the fridge so she cannot reach now.
yesterday she ate half my muffin when i wasnt looking *sigh* even orange juice left on the table she try and drink. maybe just want to taste ?

i feed her 3-4 times a day. last visit to the vet he said no problem with her. dewormed and 1st vaccination given, 2nd one due next week.
she hungry or just greedy and kaypo ?

my cats also love to eat everything, including bread. I give them a tiny piece sometimes. Once I tried "breading" them, Nemo ended up tearing it up and eating half the piece before I could take it away XD

lol
that pic is funny

things my kitten tried to eat which i never seen any of my other cats eat before. if we are eating it or leave food somewhere she can reach she will try to eat it.
- bread
- muffin
- ice cream
- juice
- watermelon
- miso soup
- sweet potato
- seaweed (the kind you put into soup)
- cornflakes
- butter
- honey
..... sometimes i think she acts more like a dog. yesterday she picked up a piece of paper and carried if all over the house in her mouth. when my other cat wants to come near and see what she is holding she growled like a dog >.<

maybe because she is picked up from the drain ? but my older cat also adopted from the lrt station and he only will eat canned food/kibble, chicken and wheatgrass.

my cat has also eaten all the things you listed there except honey. haha
another one also likes to carry paper balls around the place. He will also play fetch (sometimes)
*
haha i was worried that my cat is weird or something ... but now it looks like not only my cat likes to try different food.
my kitten will carry things around the house in her mouth, but hasn't learnt to fetch

but my big cat knows how to jump onto the stool and shake hands for a treat. like a miniature lion in the circus!

i wanna keep a cat as pet. please advice how do i start?

Hi there

I have a couple of kitties that I'd like to put up for adoption.
Breaks my heart but there is a 90% chance that I will have to move overseas in January next year so I thought it is better that I take time now to find them a home than to last minute simply give to anyone.

Both house cats, 14 month old male (neutered) and 4 month old female (was fostering her for someone after she got attacked but couldn't find her a home once she was better so ended up staying with me)
Both vaccinated and dewormed (now just need the yearly booster). No fleas or mites. Quite manja (my big boy knows how to wake me up in the morning when my alarm rings) and little one still very playful. Best if adopted together, as they have become good friends.

If anyone else know of a person who will care for 2 cats can you please help ?
I'll give the cage and all their toys and litter boxes as well.
Just need to take care and love my kitties.

Appreciate if anyone could help me look for potential homes. I really want to make sure they will be taken care of.

5 mths old for female kitten & 6 mths old for male kitten.

However, some shelter home for strays, they usually neuter the female kitten as young as 3 mths old because there are cases where female kitten gets on heat at 3 mths old.

thanks
My kitten is about 4.5 months old. Pick up from the road, so can't be 100% sure.
(Vet said she has the teeth of 4 month old but the body of a 6 month old ... )

Ready to spay? She suddenly becoming quite "noisy", I read that it could be because she is coming on heat, so best to spay before it happens

Agree with you. I also sent on heat female cats for spaying and everything was ok. Nowadays, sending on heat female cat for spaying is not a problem anymore.
*
thanks all
will probably make appointment to get her spayed this weekend
do you know if there is any need to board her ?
also, i already have another cat at home (neutered male). Maybe its a silly questions, but after getting her spayed is there any need to separate them until the wound heals ?

No need to board.
Better to take care of your cat yourself.
Actually not hard at all to take care of cats after being nuetered or spayed.
For a female cat its best to cage them at least for a week.
Reason why, is to limit her movements so that the stiches will not open.
Everyday, you will need to check the wound to see if it is dry and healing nicely.
Once the wound has healed and dried up nicely then you can let her roam freely.

I checked with Animal Medical centre (Jalan Tun Razak) and they said have to board for minimum one night... RM300 for spaying ......
Is this a normal price ? or is this vet just very expensive ?

Yes, this vet is very expensive.
If your cat is a normal DLH or DSH you can neuter it at Klinik Kembiri Setapak.
Price is RM40 for male and RM60 for female.
This is the price I am getting.
Normal is RM50 for male and RM90 for females.
No need to board at all.
Just make sure you fast your cat the day before and then bring it for the operation.
You can bring it back the same day.
Other private vets are charging RM80 for males and RM120 to RM180 for females.
thanks
I've been trying to contact them but maybe i've got the phone number wrong ? 03-40243446 but seems like it is going to a fax machine or something ...
My cat is a DSH. Rescued from longkang by some kids after being attacked by another cat. She is 5 months old now !

Before and after .. She is a bit chubby now sweat.gif

thats the problem, during hari raya no one home, all my neighbors will balik kampung too.
I can't let my cat home alone cz no one will take care of him. Thinking to bring him along, but the 5 hours journey and open surrounding at my home town, i dont think so.

if you have a look at the pet store thread there are some people advertising for boarding. or you can try pet epicure (they have a fb page, so just google them). better to book early because the places are quite limited.

try spreading catnip at the post .
some cats (like mine) like cardboard scratchers and not the rope type. my rope post is almost like new cz they never scratch it but they will tear up the cardboard type. you can even make ur own using scrap pieces of cardboard.
also just try spraying plain water and scolding "no!" at the cat if she tries scratching the sofa
*
maybe your cat doesn't know how to use the post ?
I had to "teach" my cats .. when they jump on the sofa and try to scratch say "no" then move the cat to the post and hold his paws and show him he is supposed to scratch there.
My bf read that his you have to show your cat how to use it (sendiri scratch the post with your own nails in front of the cat) .. i don't know if it works (he tried it) but my cats use the post most of the time now

Yes, totally agree with you Verulin.
Cats are very fascinated with cardboard boxes.
As soon as my cats see a box in the house they will either jump into it or scratch it.
So another solution is cut up the box and let the cat use it as a scratch post but then it will be messy la  sweat.gif
*
i got a few milo boxes from carrefour and taped them together and cut some holes out to make a maze .. my cats love it but my big kitty is kind of fat it was destroyed quite fast. but he still like to sleep in it.
