Hi all,

I plan to buy a cat cage for my cats. I currently have one adult female cat & her 5 kittens. She give birth last month, Friday the 13th. Right now my cat is let loose in the house but since her kittens now can get out & in freely from their temporary home (a box actually), I need to find them a cage. So, anyone know whether I can or not buy this online? Or anyone here live in Parit Buntar who can advice me any good cat shop?

Can we treat worms problem ourselves? What we need to buy?

Added on February 14, 2012, 6:21 pmBetter go to veterinarian. Prescribed meds are the best than over-the-counter meds I think. But first I need to find where vet is located in my town. This is the problem when living in a cowboy town. wink.gif

I'm new to this cat thing. I adopted a stray cat few months ago. This is my first time I own a cat in my entire life. So, sorry for my noob questions. Can I use Dettol shower gel for cat hygiene & for bathing? Right now I use regular shampoo & I only bathed her if she have diarrhea. I'm just thinking, Dettol shower gel might suitable to clean/kill eggs/worms, if any, on her fur or skins.

She didn't get persistent diarrhea but from time to time. I still need to find out where vet is located in my town. This is way I asked if possible to deworms myself. smile.gif

My cat usually "tell" me if she want to poops, which I will bring her to toilet. But if she get diarrhea, she usually just poops wherever place she can find. I know she will try to "bury" her feces. So, she probably touched her feces by accident. Eggs & worms probably transferred to her furs or skin. So, I just bathed her little bit. Of course I did quickly dry her.

Tomorrow I'm going to a pet shop. Let see what they have in store.

Errr you dont have a litter box for your cat to do its business?
Its convenient and hygenic to have a litter box for your cat rather having to bring it to the toilet each time it want to poop or pee. What happens if you are not around the house? Then your cat will poop and pee anywhere it likes and then it will be a hard habit to shake. Better to use a litter box. Convenient for you and your cat  smile.gif

I don't have litter box yet. At daytime, I put my cat in the lobby (a place we used to parked our bicycles). There is an open window. So, when she want to poop or pee, she will go outside to do its business. She can come in through the same window too. The problem is at night, I don't want her to get out because a lot of "pacat". I already know her schedule. She poops in the morning (after breakfast) & pee at least two times a day (morning & evening and/or night). She usually "tell" me, so I know when to bring her to toilet. Like I said, some time she get diarrhea. When this happen, I usually wake up with very nice smell in the room. smile.gif No problem at all, I just clean it.

Don't worry no more. Today I bought very cheap litter box & "Clean 'N Easy" clumping cat litter, and also "Saintail" cat shampoo. I also bought a "Ubat Cacing Biasa" for cat. The instruction on the bottle only said one bottle for three time usage & one usage for every two weeks. How to use it? Do I need to add it in the water? I'm really lost. smile.gif

Chill out!

But did it ever come across your mind that its not easy as that?

I dont think it is wrong to advise him to neuter his cat rather than reproduce and start something that he cannot stop.  Even the Government bodies like SPCA are encouraging all pet owners to neuter their pets in order to curb the stray population.

As for the lame statement about KURAP that definitely was a big NO, NO which I cannot accept.

Just my two cents.

Did it ever come across to your mind that not all people are the same?

I never said neuter is not appropriate. Breeding also not bad thing either if you have the will & time to take care the kittens & the mother. If 50 cats, of course I can't take care of them either but if 5 kittens & a mother, I can. I do plan to neuter my cat in near future.

The problem is, instead giving an advice *properly*, you all attack him, calling names.

My Sofie got diarrhea yesterday, so today I bring her to see vets again. Base on the symptom & the color of the feces, vets told me it's likely the food causing diarrhea. I did changed from tuna to mackerel to ocean fish flavor in last couple of weeks. Unfortunately the medicine for diarrhea is out. Probably lot of cats got diarrhea too lately. He gave three capsules for worms & said to me if still get diarrhea after a weak, he advice me to get the medicine from pharmacy. According to him, diarrhea medicine for children can be use for cats too.

BTW, I feed my cat with boiled minced beef today. She very like it. Will continue to feed her with the same meat for a couple of days.

(I did make sure to clean both bowls for food & drink with hot water everyday.)

My cat doesn't like dry food. If I give her dry food, she only eat a little then meow again. She only like canned food & boiled fish/chicken/beef. For canned food, she only like mackerel & ocean fish flavor. Is there any chance she will like "Lord" Blackwood?

(P/S: Name a movie that have Lord Blackwood character? smile.gif)

Why don't u try to give a little bit first?? See how she responded to BW.

Will try it later. I'm going to KL end of this month. Maybe buy there.
QUOTE(demolationz @ Mar 10 2012, 03:03 AM)
Ofcourse, something new to her. Try mixed them up.

1st day - 10% kibble 90% wetfood
2nd day - 30% kibble 70% wetfood
and so on .

she will get used to it later  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Already try that but she is very persistent. The only time she actually finished the food if I mixed rice with fish or canned food. She is "kampung" cat, so...

Her kittens like dry food (for kittens of course) though because I give them while they still little. So, they comfortable with it.

BTW, I bought Science Diet dry food. Look like she like Science Diet but still can't satisfy her.

I'm just curious, anyone using automatic scoop-free litter machine? I'm sure it is not suitable for kittens because they will play & sleep in it.

Kittens does pees a lot. I just bought 4th clumping sands bag (10L) in four weeks. Also since they also like to play & sleep in the litter box, I scooped the stools at minimum two times a day.

(P/S: Does my English sound correct? "scooped the stools")

A cat which lives at my friend's rumah sewa (as she has taken a liking to the guys) gave birth recently to 3 kittens. My friend and I went to see them. She welcomed us and I thought of taking one of them when they get bigger. Only problem is.. 2 days later, she disappeared along with the kittens. Then a day later, the mother appeared back again at the house.

Why did she shift them? :\ Did she eat them?
*
She will moved her kittens if she feels the place is not safe or loud or too bright. In a couple of weeks after gave birth, the mother can easily stress & she will moved her kittens if she feels the place is not safe. What I did when my cat gave birth is by preparing a box. She jump into the box herself. I put the box at a quiet & not too bright place. I also doesn't go near to her kittens for two or three weeks because I know the mother doesn't like it. Cat can take care of her newly born kittens just fine without human help.

The time I taken the pictures are their nap time. I don't have to put them in the cage because they go in themselves. They do like to "lepak" near the window. The cage is in a room specifically for them to play. It is a big room. While I'm typing this, they're playing right now. So, don't judge from a picture that only show you the small portion of the bigger picture.
