hi all..i juz got my 2 months kitten 2 days ago n i managed to toilet trained her...i didn't use any litter sand n i notice that sometimes her feet will step on her pee whenever she wanted to do the scratch thing after peeing...will dat can be avoided if i use litter sand?...i took the kitten from my auntie n she also didn't use any litter sand...she juz put a tray in the toilet n her cats will do their business on it...i think i've bought medium size litter box n do i have to upgrade the size too?
*
if you use sand, the cat can cover her business, so she won't end up stepping on it again.
the 'scratching' is to cover the poo and pee with sand

yesterday when i got back from work...there were poo all over the kitchen floor...i suspected she didn't want to go to her litter box coz there were her pee n poo already...i think i need to search for the litter sand or the clumping clay...but a friend of mine suggest to use shredded paper..is it ok if i use that?

i also notice since yesterday her poo seems a bit semi liquid...i gave my cat orijen but the previous owner fed her with blackwood...can the sudden change of food can upset her stomach too?

sorry for the many questions...i'm still noob in keeping cat but i'll try my best.. icon_rolleyes.gif

hi all!
just wanted to enquire abt cat paws: did your cats ever get dry, rough paws? my cat is in this condition right now though he can walk with no problem and shows no discomfort.
ps: he is permanently housed in a 3 storey cage and spends evenings in my room when i'm home. is fed with blackwood dry food for adult cats and uses lemon scented litter clay (forgot the brand tongue.gif)

thankssss!

yes, cat is like clean environment
they will refuse to use the toilet if dirty

better use litter sand or recycle paper
but i think sand will be better, to let them cover the poo
recycle paper in cylinder have a strong absorb, but can't cover the poo...

ya, changing the food suddenly will make them feel not well
better slowing change, mixing old brand and new, and slowing reduce the quantity of the old brand...

Yes, check Maskargo website, there's info about importing cats or other pets...it's tedious(leceh),you'll need papers and clearance from Vets, Jabatan Haiwan etc, from both importing & exporting countries... From which country you want to import? If from selected commonwealth countries like UK, Australia, dont have to quarantine it, otherwise the cat will have to be quarantine at the airport for sometime..

hi, share your experience here la. blush.gif Is it better to import one or ask a friend of mine in UK to bring back one? Which method is easier? biggrin.gif

Thought of bringing a pair of BSH from there. But might as well get them from USA since i found a cattery that doesn't require their pets to be spayed/neutered.

mine need to be quarantine for 7 day only...acctually the last time i ask the quarantine officer,he said any cat from Australia
need to be quarantine for 10 day minimum upon arrival.because they found a new disease from there..before this i also heard that any cat from australian no need to be quarantine.

starting from animal hotel, just spare around RM200..just incase..for enterence pass RM10/person,Kastam form service around RM25-27
RM5 errr...i forgot what for lol....Animal Hotel around RM50. Quarantine 7 day = RM113.00 but not include cat food.but this one pay after
quarantine period.

Rep breeder will always require you to spay the cat unless you are buying show/starting a breed program.
My girlfriend has decided to adopt a BSh too, and since we are in Singapore and buying from bluebab(Malaysia)
will require the kitten to be quarantined for at least 30days(gonna cost us $500)
we figure would be much better to buy from OZ, can skip the quarantine and can get a better quality cats.
Plus cheaper transport cost compared to UK, Ireland, and US
At the moment we are talking with http://www.britzcats.com/
and weighing on either silver or solid blue. both have irresistable cuteness smile.gif

Regardless, thanks for the bluebabe contact.
Might adopt one for my parents in the future.

Hi there thanks for the link. For a start to be honest, I don't mind getting one desexed blue BSH. I have that thought of breeding initially but perhaps not in a rush so therefore I actually don't mind having one neutered BSH for a long-life companionship. Since it seems you have bought one from the Bluebabe cattery in Malaysia, do you mind me asking how much did they charge you for the cat alone? I'm trying to compare the costs of importing one from overseas to M'sia or just buying one from the cattery in here. Heard they charge you an arm and a leg for a kitten. So might as well be a smart buyer and evaluate pros and cons of both methods.

And thanks for the link of the cattery in Aus. They seem to have such beautiful blue kitties. But do they actually provide international shipping for the kitties? Sorry ya if i ask you a lot of things, since you have started negotiating with them, might as well ask directly from you. blush.gif

Hi thanks for your feedback. I will try to understand about the procedures well. Quite a hassle but since importing one from overseas for a pet quality BSH is practically cheaper than buying one from Malaysia cattery. I don't really like certain catteries' policies here in M'sia, and some really put a very expensive price for a kitten for a pet quality kitten. And no, Im not talking about the BSH kitten, it's just i know some catteries over charge expensively because they are monopolising some breeds. mad.gif Some people just love to own a specific breed of cat, let's say a BSH for a long-term companion but they put a policy that if we buy from them, we have to show them off at a CFA show bla bla. I dont really agree to that policy because we buy things and then let's us decide whether to join the shows or not.

Owh no, I've never buy a kitten from bluebabe, just thinking maybe one day can buy for my parents in malaysia.
those old folks got quite lonely these days, the kids all going places to study and work. Although they do have a few cats already biggrin.gif
However, my gf already asked the adoption price from britzcat, and the price quoted was $1200 including vaccine n desex for a pet.
This is undoubtfully pretty overpriced. But they do have some exceptional cats in their cattery and if you notice many local breeders
get their stud/queen from them! They also had a lot of experiences exporting kitties internationally, which give you security
on both money n of course your kitty. It cost quite a lot, but since we are paying in SGD, its still okay la. If we are paying in RM shakehead.gif shakehead.gif

For my case, the pro of choosing britzcat is that they will ship the kitten from perth, which is only 5hours from Sg, short travel hours and no quarantine.
The tricky part is that somehow, buying a 1 way plane ticket from perth is more expensive than buying a round trip ticket to OZ. maybe its the promotion
to encourage ppl to go to OZ or what, idk. But it seems now that my gf might have to go to perth and collect the kitty herself by using Qantas airline.
(Qantas considers pet crate as normal luggage, thus no need to pay extra ticket fee). Anyway she studied in OZ before so she has friends there, shouldnt be a prob

welcome emy...so u decide to have a pet quality kitten.my suggestion is buy them from local breeder..yeah sometime they look likes overcharges
for a kitten, but for me it depend on sire and dam.sometime litter from CH , GC, QGC (champion line)parentage and bloodline will be charge a little bit higher than other.but i totally agree with your view about overprice on certain breed that been monopoly by some catteries.plus some of it just dont want to sell any kitten for malaysian except for pet quality.anyway emy...good luck..
