QUOTE(miaopurr @ Dec 16 2014, 12:34 AM) Fish should not be fed regularly to your feline friends.AVOID: Bones from fish, poultry, or other meat sources Can cause obstruction or laceration of the digestive system. Canned tuna (for human consumption) Large amounts can cause malnutrition, since it lacks proper levels of vitamins and minerals. It can also lead to thiamine deficiency. Fish (raw, canned or cooked) If fed exclusively or in high amounts can result in a thiamine (a B vitamin) deficiency leading to loss of appetite, seizures, and in severe cases, death. QUOTE(aM- @ Dec 15 2014, 01:17 AM) hello guys. I prefer flea & tick drops than spray. I've used two brands of spray & they doesn't kill all fleas. The flea & tick drops I'm using can kill all fleas in 24 hours & if any fleas from carpet trying to jump back to cat, they won't survive. It can protect the cat for months.can u guys recommend me any flea killer using spray? i tired to play seek & kill those fleas & my little abit aggressive. i always shower them once a week using warm water & try to kill alot of fleas. but fleas keep have on my little buddy. thanks. ![]() Regarding fish, at "kampung" regular food people like to feed their cats & stray cats is rice mixed with boiled fish. I honestly can't recall any cats getting sick from eating fish. Even my grandmother's cat live healthy with us for years. Almost 10 years I think, probably more. For stray cats, better fish than nothing, better whiskas than nothing. |

It's not that they get sick from fish, it's just improperly prepared fish could result in bones causing them trouble.
Fish in general is fine, just remember to give your cat balanced nutrition. Just like humans, we can't live by eating fish alone either. You'll survive but you'll be lacking some nutrients which could have adverse result to your health. |

QUOTE(miaopurr @ Dec 15 2014, 11:27 AM) i think whatever brands u feed ur cats (as long as not those commercial ones), should be okay. as long as u don't overfeed them n control their diet. i think we have to be more precise with the term. any brand that's on the shelf in pet store are "commercial" by saying "not commercial" people might think go for those home-made that's of unknown quality. |

as per the source you quoted.......
Bones from fish, poultry, or other meat sources Can cause obstruction or laceration of the digestive system. This one refers to bones, not fish. Canned tuna (for human consumption) Large amounts can cause malnutrition, since it lacks proper levels of vitamins and minerals. It can also lead to thiamine deficiency. Note the clause "large amounts". It's like saying eating large amount of fried chicken will make you fat, that doesn't mean you're not supposed to eat them. You're supposed to balance them out. Fish (raw, canned or cooked) If fed exclusively or in high amounts can result in a thiamine (a B vitamin) deficiency leading to loss of appetite, seizures, and in severe cases, death. Again, note the clause. It's referring to extreme side of the diet where the bulk of it is made up of a certain food. It does not have HIGH POTENTIAL to be harmful. The extent of HARM depends on how you feed the feline friend rather than the food itself being harmful. |

hello fellow feline-crazy people
I have a new family member; which is.... a female cat! Alright, I have heaps of questions to ask, and I am kinda feeling a bit overwhelmed [it feels like i am having a newborn baby, lol]. My cat is of unknown breed, age around 4months. Female. Now, my biggest concern now is that my cat doesn't seem to be drinking enough fluid. Any idea why? I placed the drinking bowl in the cage, next to her food bowl and litter container. She is free to roam the house, and she knows to find her way to these places, should she wants to eat, poo. But, the liquid [which is normal water, taken from the tap], she doesn't drink it. We left the house in the morning, and return at night, and noticed that the water level has not dropped. I am concern. Any advise ? |

^ Thx for the replies
I have put the water bowl farther from the litter box n food. But it seems that she is still not drinking fluid. I am using tap water, and am lokking at whether boiled water would make her start drinking again. |
