And for me, a mantra I always used if ppl ask me what Android phone should I recommend to them rings true all the time- Don't be a cheapskate. Go for the latest and greatest (Spec wise), and you will be fine. Well for most of the time. With ICS, I really felt that Galaxy S shall be the baseline spec that anyone should go for. Lesser than that, and you will be pulling your hair soon enuff. *Still remember my experience with HTC Wildfire. Brr, I almost throw the phone outta the window, something I never done to my gadgets before, even the uber craptastic N97 laugh.gif
*
Word of wisdom for me today. biggrin.gif

Still haven't getting my chance to test L800...yet. Guys, performance and stock app/ function wise, is it better than S2? More than 6 months already, S2 is still king of the hill; atleast to people who are not conscious enough with gadgets.

What's differentiate L800 from the rest of WinPho? I once get to hold HTC Hero (WP7.0 of course), its still not as 'rich' as other OSes. For practical-centric people, yes, it does text nicely, music player is nice, Metro is nice, Nokia Maps and Drive are stellar, but what about other 'unit selling point' that Nokia offers that can make we say "Man, wanna buy WP phone? Samsung and HTC are rip off!! Go for Nokia!" kind of feeling?

Rather funny that you say practical, because practical people would easily choose Android or iPhone that are more feature-rich and practical at this point of time.  biggrin.gif

But really, Nokia's 'whole package' is pretty much the selling point against other WP7. Performance are roughly equal between all WP so 'price-performance' is really only Lumia 710.

The main reason to go Nokia is because Nokia is obviously the 'premier WP partner' for Microsoft, so the best things from Microsoft and Nokia will both end up in WP first than anyone else.  rclxms.gif
But Malaysia don't get Nokia Music...  cry.gif  cry.gif

Damn record label agreements.

for me practical means if you can't have this and that, you can still live happily with it. i didn't like android since it's battery are not sufficient to my needs.

hoping that Microsoft will churn out update much more faster. Since probably middle of this year Apollo will go head to head with Jelly Bean. rclxms.gif

just got l800 few hours ago after 'stumbled with obstacles'.

why my l800 can't detect wifi around me? its showing 'searching', no wifi listed while there's a heck lot of wifi access all around me.

I had problem connecting to WiFi too. Turning Battery Saver mode on solved the problem for me. After connecting to WiFi, you can turn it off again.

not works for me. sad.gif

current observation: how L800 detect 3G network and stablize it are far more worse compared to N9. with L800, i only get GPRS signal while N9 can work on HSDPA like a charm. While N9 are worse compared to N8, C7, E6 capability of searching for networks.

I'm using Maxis BTW.

Fetching update for Facebook on People Hub seems forever to me. sweat.gif

I think it depends on ur location..

For me my 800 always detect hsdpa..

The downside is I still cannot check my maxis data balance..

not just data balance, I can't even get through *100# !!!

stunning. yet to try the macro shots.

aspire2oo6, can i send the faulty (i guessed) L800 of mine to hello station? thinking about sending it next week at aeon bukit tinggi branch. usually how long does it take to repair? Wifi problem. It can detect wifi networks through notifications, but instead of listing the wifi networks, it still show ' searching'.... sad.gif

i dunt like the qwerty keyboard on window phone. on portrait mode the keyboard looks comfortale but in landscape it look small and hard to touc compard to N9 and symbian.

n9 qwerty> symbian qwerty> windows phone qwerty.

Lumia 800's qwerty keyboard isn't suitable for those with fat fingers.
For me even typing a single long word is hard with this small screen.

microsoft should revamp back the qwerty again to make it comfortable. n9 qwerty is the best imho.
*
if + haptic feedback vibrate, lumia 800 qwerty is a godsend to me. even without it, i love lumia 800 very much compared to n9 and symbian.

although n9 qwerty is good enough, lumia 800 is even better.

one problem.... i can detect and connect wifi signals that transmit through routers / access points, but not tethered devices (e.g, iphone 4, N9). Why? isit can detect wifi through mobile network to avoid massive data usage through mobile networks?
