Pull up bars are quite affordable... roughly RM70 if you get it from fitness concept. Crappy looking ones from tesco is even cheaper... RM39.90 I think. But the tesco ones look like they might fail or snap in half.
If your door has a frame and your fingers are strong enough then you can just do pull ups with your door frame(get the extreme rock climbing experience). Else you can even hold on to the top of your door to do pull ups.

QUOTE(hackwire @ Oct 25 2011, 09:20 PM) so cheap? in crossfit forum, one guy did mention about safety . due to the fact that info are easily obtain in you tube to DIY Galvanized pipe bar at home , the weight of you and the intensity of workout could possibly collapse the structure if math and science is not apply. suggest some steel cable to absorb the weight or pressure. The pull up bar from fitness concept can hold up to 90kg. The sales assistant told me, just to be safe, keep it below 80kg. I have tried 85kg and tugged the bar(and swing) and it holds well. The tesco pull up bar looks like it will fail the first time anyone tries anything with it.
