Hey guys, recently I received a scholarship from JPA(PIDN). I have a few questions for those who received this scholarship. I didn't manage to find any thread mainly for discussions about how JPA works.

Here's my question.

As stated from JPA itself that they will provide an annual allowance (Sara Hidup) of let say RM8k. So that means 4k per semester. If i'm staying in a hostels/residential colleges provided by the University, will it affect the per semester's allowance or will there be another transaction between the University and JPA?

And let say if I'm renting a house or staying on my own, do I need to send a copy of my monthly rent to JPA to be audited?

I've tried calling JPA today, but they keep on passing me to other officers. Hope to get answers here.

u got ipta or ipts? from my experience, the allowance still given full amount even u stay with hostel. but in my case, I'm ipts. so, the hostel is very expensive (VERY!).thus, we prefer to stay outside..

I'm in IPTA. The allowance they gave you will be unaffected?

I'm not sure how for IPTA. but for us IPTS, lets say our allownace around 4.4k per semester. that gives us around 730 a month. we didn't stay in our uni's hostel beause the cheapest rate is usually around 500 a month. there are also around 1k per months. but u'll never want to look at them. gives us only 230 per month for food. oh, IPTS didn't provide food for their hostel. plus, food price around here is sick. didn't choose wisely, u'll spent mostly RM20 per day for food only.

so, IMO, the allowance will not really effected where u live. unjust have to spent wisely. and some IPTA i heard only allow 1st year student in their hostel. u may want to check on that. take note that allowance for IPTA and IPTS is not the same. plus, rural and non-rural area also not same one

Okay about IPTA, my last IPTA had hostel fees inclusive in the tuition fees. And JPA paid our tuition fees fully. Consequently, they paid the same amount every semester for the tuition fees and allowance. Hence, JPA did sponsor me for rent during my IPTA days.

But for IPTS, the hostel fee isn't in the tuition fees. I have to take my allowance money to pay for the rent which makes the budget real tight.
