Although I don't really like this.. but Nokia's future is now relying on microsoft;
next year would be releasing Apollo OS which supports dualcore, guess that they still able to sustain a bit in the competition :/

but oh please.. i want a true N8 successor >.>

What is there to like or dislike? I own no shares in Nokia nor know anybody working in Nokia so I have absolutely no emotional attachment to Nokia. As long as the phone fulfill my needs at the price I wanted, it does not bother me whether her future is with Microsoft or Macrohard.

Opps please don't misunderstood =x
What I meant was.. Nokia would really need to do well now ever since they announced to kill off their own platform
If they failed to appeal the market again this time, it's really really chaotic for Nokia to gain back market share anymore..

Urgh my English is really really bad, I really scare to interpret my opinion wrongly now -.-

Rather than that, it just open Nokia up for countless possibilities.

This is just the first step forward. Whether or not WP7 or WP8 deliver what Nokia want is unknown. They can end the alliance anytime and switch to Android or whatsoever open source.

Besides, given Nokia progress over the last 5 years, they have nothing to lose really. They will need to find the magic formulae to get customers to look at their offering again. Why did Samsung gain so much popularity with Android? They were nobody at one point. SE was damn popular with their P series and now what. Not many want to buy their smartphones.

One man's meat is another poison. Nokia in trouble means I can get my N8 dirt cheap. Where else can you find a great camera with free GPS everything for RM1000 brand new?

True about opting for alternate famous OS, and that'll be the only way for Nokia to survive again since no one will trust them for inventing their own OS again doh.gif
But then again, opting for another famous OS that created by someone else .. just isn't too "Nokia" anymore
For me myself, I love Nokia because they have their own OS and everything else are also originated by them, the total Nokia-ish Nokia lol (Same as Apple, they got their own OS and everything that make them look exclusive and unique)

Personally I feel that nokia made a mistake with WP
Yes, the UI is smooth and all that, but it seems to me that WP is too simple to use. They have so few apps, (which I hope will increase in the future) and I haven't seen developers creating apps for WP. Perhaps Rovio, and....? Definitely not a balanced platform. But give it time, since Nokia is supporting it.

Secondly, it's closed sourced shakehead.gif.

Not gonna get a WP until they really impress me. It will do well for the average consumers who "wants a simple phone".

Just my thoughts.

By the way,

Why do they keep boasting about the design? They should have done that ages ago for the N9. Nokia didn't design the Lumia, they designed the N9!

Maps 3.08 is now available for download for the N8 for those who dare to try anything new. For me, I would adopt a wait & see.

Nokia is infested with Microsoft. A majority of people on the Lumia 800 team are from Microsoft (not to mention even the CEO, Stephen Elop was ex-MS). It's a matter of time before Nokia gets bought over by MS.

Therefore, there's no way Nokia will go back and pick to adopt another smartphone OS. Android is out of the picture. Stephen Elop basically rejected Android outright when asked about the reason they did not go with Android but instead adopted WP7. Going back to Android will be 2 slaps to the face.

Unless Nokia fires Stephen Elop. Then a Nokia Android will still have hope.

It's pathetic seeing Nokia in that Lumia 800 design story video. <Starcraft analogy>Like an infested Marine, talking with no soul, only the words of the Overlord.</Starcraft analogy>

Why must it be android? They can create their own OS and make it grow. Whats with people everything must be android so people can challenge the hardware like the market currently in windows

It doesn't have to be. But with the hardware complaints about Android's OEMs, it's almost guaranteed that a Nokia Android will dominate sales. Of course we all know what happened to that possibility.

Downloaded it, have a quick use of it.

Now Ovi Maps split into 4 apps : Map Loader (map in your Maps), Guides (never use this o.o), Weather, and Drive.

Im liking it, Drive to home (or destination at favorite) quicker to access.

make sure you put Map apps at your homescreen, Map app widget is shorcuts of Map, Drive, Check in and Guides.

Like flash. Back then everything must have flash but if you notice the trend now its slowly integrating latest devices with support of HTML5

Actually WP is a very well built OS, too bad they have too much restriction over it =/
But me myself still liking symbian, maemo and meego, which are all originated and exclusively owned by Nokia =/

And dam agree with you about N9 design.. why are they boasting it for Lumia? -.-

I use "Walk" navigation often. Both using street or in a straight line. In fact, straight line is even more important to me so how does it work on 3.8?

I hesitate to install 3.8 because it only have "Drive", no "Walk".
