Watched Magnificent Seven lately on BD. Great if not fantastic transfer of an old classic Western remake of the Seven Samurai. At the price its going for in Amazon now, it might be a welcome addition for those who need to pair it with BF purchases. Especially a treat for the olde western fans and Yul Brynner. The score is fantastic on BD and the PQ is top notch considering the age of the source. Much better transfer than some of the Warner westerns. Grain is present, some scrubbing done but no real loss of detail. Did not see much ringing but I might have missed it as I was really engrossed in what is probably the 50th time I am watching this in my lifetime. The score still sends a shiver down my spine...

QUOTE(sKyWiR3pT3lTd @ Nov 22 2011, 10:46 AM) How could it be possibly been stolen if you have kept it secured bro? Anyway, ever since 2005 i've stopped getting DVD's and moved on to Blu-ray up to current date. It's pity that your work being stolen and being used without authorization or getting royalties for your hardwork. Malaysia boleh i guess! To be fair, IP theft happens all over the world and not only restricted to Malaysia.

QUOTE(lonetitans @ Nov 22 2011, 06:59 PM) Now I'm contemplating to get Rocky box set or not. I shouldn't have browse this thread two days back and start surfing Amazon Don't worry, u'll outgrow it. When u realise like the majority that the BDs are piling up unwatched and yet u r still waiting for a whole bunch that are still in transit. Except the hardcore movie lovers who watch a lot of movies, the rest will slowly fade away and will just pick up the ones that u really want. Ahh..the good old days... Seriously though, BF prices are pretty decent so far, except for the ones in my basket.

QUOTE(johnsontys @ Nov 23 2011, 12:08 PM) I just called them and spoke to the owner there. they are selling the Oppo 93 without any Region Free kit. He claimed that "modifying" this will void the warranty. So how? Even Oppo also not Region Free Get it from slt technologies. They r the authorized distributor for oppo in south east asia. They provide warranty for the region free version.

The Pan's Labyrinth from UK is the better copy in my opinion as the US version has DNR applied. The UK version does not have DNR applied. Question though, what's the audio codec on the Pan's Labyrinth. I was under the impression that the UK version did not have lossless audio?
Edit: Just checked : it is DTS-HDMA 5.1, cool.
Need to see if I can just buy that one. Sold my US version some time ago.

QUOTE(johnbluraylover @ Dec 2 2011, 11:24 AM) PAN LB UK version is selling very cheap at AMZ UK, However, there is 2 UK version, 1 standard & 1 special edition. I am not sure the dif but the $ is around UK$8 b4 VAT refund, so may be we can buy one for comparison. Both UK & US are 50gb and VC-1 decoded, but i couln't find any review on UK version, bro, can u confirm UK version has no DNR? if yes, i am very interesting of get 1 too. UK has higher bitrate VC-1 and no dnr. There are some reviews on the UK version sold with the deltoro collection. Same encode as previous just audio difference. I believe the special edition has the new DTSHDMA encode.
