Just because you or [insert person] have no use of [a function] doesn't mean that it applies for other people as well.

it's a very useful tool for hikers and outdoor people, geo surveyors, etc. picture with GPS data, offline terrain map plotting, capturing images and putting it straight to a word doc. and this is just ONE application with GPS. seriously i don't even know why i bothered replying fanboi questions like this

Perhaps, but for those who wants/prefers the Asus model would most probably be because of the great integration with the keyboard+dock. Because without that, the TFP would essentially be like any other tablet (minus the GPS).

ASUS made a BIG BIG blunder over the use of aluminium casing for this one. You can almost see some bosses in ASUS goes "ok for TFP we put all aluminium case and charge a premium for it" without bothering asking engineers if it's a good idea or not.

3G signal would definitely be affected by the aluminium casing as well.

I'm definitely more interested in this more than the TFP201

body seems to be plastic..... so GPS should be OK. Here's hoping it'll use a minimum dual core and tegra3, if yes then i'll get this one

If you're like me, who cares about GPS, proper wireless (bluetooth/gps/wifi) strength, no more bleeding screens, and generally everything that you expect the TP to be, then don't bother with waiting for Prime anymore. either go buy another brand (not exactly a smart move, as the featureset of TP is a few things more than other units soon or in the market) OR just wait 5-6 more months.

I will vote with my wallet, and NOT be buying close to 10 units of TP like I did for the original Transformer. I don't know about you guys, but if a (reputable?) company told the world how awesome the upgrade model is, and when they screw up, instead of admitting their mistake they just scratch off the said feature, that's a really really poor way of treating your die-hard customer base.

That's exactly my point. When the TF101 was released it was an almost legendary of a device - a real iPad2 competitor AND more - that I wasted no time to buy many units for my family. And all that time till now, ASUS+google was saying how great their next model would be, due to the fan's trust in rewarding them, it'll be super awesome, yada yada yada...

Then they screwed up. Instead of admitting their mistake, they just kept quiet for a while, until voices on the net got really loud (and pissed off) till they admit that yes, they screwed up. First was WiFi, they kept quiet. Then GPS. Then bleeding screens. Then dead pixels. Then God knows what else. But instead of fixing their mess (say, give a free replacement plastic case at their RMA centres, refund, or ANYTHING) they just did a "ah don't care about them, just scratch off the GPS feature and ignore" crap ON US. And here we are, turning against each other because of their damn arrogance while they just sit there and wait because some of us don't care about putting thousands of ringgit on a device that doesn't perform up to a reasonable expectation. So if you still want to pay more than 2k on a device and don't mind using hacks like pairing with your phones or whatever, then hey it's your money. But I'm more of a opinion that we should not reward companies who step on us, and arrogantly at that.

I believe the "discontinued" status is because of the shortages and/or recall (of promise) by ASUS due to the defects after people made a big fuss about it.

Oh yeah! I totally forgot about this.... ugh



I believe this is more of a human issue. we need the extra space at the side to hold tablets easily due to the size - smaller tablets can hold it without touching the front part.
