Why so scared? Well it is a scary game and it is more fun to play in groups . Btw, leave your Soul Level because you cannot summon that are more or less than 10 levels from you and them.

I believe the MP is region free.

You can only get NPC at entrance boss if you defeat NPC near the bonfire in the tunnel. Be in human form, go out of the tunnel and straight ahead you can see someone after you. This is a half-naked girl carrying a meat cleaver. Defeat her and you can see her summon sign just before entering Queelag.

Not sure if I've spent too much time on my first playthrough.. almost at SL 120

oh, that one attacking me nearly gave me a heart attack

but for some reason it is not easy to summon the R3 player when u r R2 (wait for so long also the summon sign wont appear) & vise versa ...

we had tried earlier with some players here & it doesn't work ... ended up we sold our R2 copy & bought R3 ...

I finished the game around that SL. That is the most common SL I believe most players are at when they finish the game. Esp if they want to PVP later at the final stage.

LOL, yeah it can be a bit scary to see a red figure appear out of nowhere from the dark in the swamps.

Hmmm, I've played with Japs & Americans (R1 & R2 JP) as well as local players using R3 so not sure the odds as I never bothered. But I'm pretty sure its Region Free. Mine's R1 I believe.

Summoned Solaire for Centipede boss, saw him after the boss at the bonfire but did not talk to him. I proceeded to loiter around elsewhere and at the end joined Chaos to open Lost Izalith's door to find him behind it and already found the sunlight helm. Why??

After the centipede boss, solaire will got to lost izalith and hang around at the bridge where the Lightning Demon is which as you said is the shortcut when you open the door (instead of going underground and facing the lava pool, etc.)

Now if you had been fast enough, you can find Solaire alive and well at the bridge. Talk to him, and he will be available to join you for Gwyn fight. But if you were slow, you would find that he has been eaten by maggots and left only his sunlight helm. He also will go mad (because of the maggots) and I believe may attack you and unfortunately you have to kill him. Either way, he won't join you in the final fight.

I hate the forest! Can't summon help for Sif without getting interfered. I suppose I have to abandon my current covenant just to get through this level?
