Your sign will appear in the worlds of the cursed as a larger than normal white sign with a black smoke effect. when touched, the victim will invade your world as a Spirit of Vengeance. The sign moves around with the Gravelord Servant so it's recommended that you keep near to bonfires and keep in open areas where it will be clearly visible. Be patient. It takes a while for the curses to drop sometimes but once they're active the invasions will begin (anything between 1 and 3 minutes. You can also be invaded between curse placements). You can actually watch your curses being spread using the white soapstone. If it becomes unusable in your usable item slot and you don't get invaded it means a curse is being placed. Once it's done this three times, you know it's on.
You can be Gravelorded while you Gravelord so you can curse while you curse. The sign will just be extra hard to find since it disappears when you get invaded, dawg.
Invasions
It seems that there are 3 invasion slots that open when you're Gravelording: 1 for a Darkwraith and 2 for Spirits of Vengeance (either from Darkmoons or invasions via the sign or both) - this needs confirmation as I have only ever seen this scheme of invasions. Never had more than 1 Red and 2 Blues invade at the same time and never 2 Reds.
Cancelling the Effect
The Gravelording effect will be cancelled if you:
- warp from a bonfire.
- use a homeward bone or the Homeward miracle
- die
- exit the game or sign out of PSN
It will not be cancelled if you rest at a bonfire or move to another area by foot.

Purely posting this as info. I have been playing around with this covenant a lot since the patch and i can happily report that it works as intended! Long as you play by the rules, seems some people are in the dark about this so I'll explain how and what for those interested.
People that are saying they have to wait hours for some action are doing something wrong, please note the following.
1. Your SL, you are being invaded so the same rules would apply as normal, in order to connect with the maximum number of victims make sure you are at a higher level then the area lv /co-op range! Gravelording at undead parish SL 30 i ave gotten anything from SL 1 to people under 30's in their NG+. Always make sure you are higher! the higher the better. Also of course human form, boss cannot be defeated. It is possible to get a constant stream of DW and SoV invasions.(had this happen several times)
2. Don't move around to much, your sign will move with you, so if you keep running up and down people will have a harder time finding your sign, Just stand in an obvious hard to miss place.
Ok, you get invaded by a spirit of vengeance, what now?
3. People can be repeat customers, i got invaded by the same guy three times( Beat him 2 times and got an eye for each kill ) Him dying by my hands did not destroy the curse. You have to entice and lure people with the thought they can beat you to try again. So don't smash one-shot someone with your +5 fire weapon or something in the undead parish, they will probably not try again. Obviously this only applies to low level areas, high level areas will lure players with more then enough skill and gear to give you a good fight so you can go all out then. So at low levels be sure to nerf yourself /fight fair to get the most out of your victims.
What to watch out for.
4.You have one natural enemy, the darkwraith. Since you are in human form you will encounter these guys alot, so be prepared accordingly, in low level areas these will pretty much always be twinks, so be sure to have the gear to deal with them. I found that a good upgraded shield, a solid fire weapon is enough to kill them, still it's not always easy. At high levels prepare for some nasty situations like darkwraith + 1/2 spirits of vengeance, very fun though.

So I was walking around in Undead Parish on NG+, invading some people, when I noticed BP mobs in my world. I had never seen this before, so I was quite surprised. I wanted to investigate, but before I could, I was already invading someone else.
So I invade some guy's world, and I spend like 10 mins looking for him. Turns out he was disguised rather well with Chameleon. We had a tight battle but in the end he beat me (by backstab of course). I noticed he had a black Gravelord aura on him - could this be same person who put the curse on my world?
Yep, same guy. I tried to look for his Gravelord sign, but the BP mob killed me 3 times before I could find it. It was the big knight near the Fire Keeper soul in Undead Parish.. he packs quite a punch in NG+ as a BP. When I finally found the guy's sign and invaded him, I was so frustrated he killed me with ease. So now I was like, " Arghhh! I have to get this guy!!' - he then killed me twice more.
The final battle was crazy - I entered his world to find a Red phantom (Darkwraith) standing next to me. The Red guy ran away and I followed him. We found the Gravelord host already dueling a spirit of vengeance. It then became a 3 v 1 battle - 2 spirits of vengeance and the dark spirit vs the Gravelord host. Frantic chaos ensued. After an intense fight, the host had about 10% of his HP left. He ran onto a bridge and we all chased him - only to run straight into the special slash from the Moonlight Greatsword! Lmao.. we all died. The host then jumped off the bridge, which counts as Gravelord defeated. Perhaps he thought he had trolled us hard enough for now.
Suffice it to say I was having an off-day.. but the whole Gravelord experience was definitely cool! The Gravelord guy was Japanese btw. I only seem to run into Japanese players on DkS nowadays.
