how do you backstab somebody, need special weapon? please teach me
*
indeed best question... lol Sora... don't bully people tongue.gif

to backstab an enemy... you need to circle behind the enemy without holding block/ normal standing stance... press R1 and "boom". not all enemy you can backstab... normally walking with 2 leg almost same height as your character can backstab. So far for animal, only armored boar can backstab/ execute pain in the thousand years technique aka cucuk butt.

oic, no wonder la not working ..i've been blocking all the time...thx
*
if you wanna practice, those zombie in undead burg and undead parish are best target practice as they hit your block... they will stagger quite a while... always circle around them eventhough they try to hit you.

i got tip on how to farm souls in the forest..

1) play offline
2) provoke the NPC guardian
3)go back to the door but put yourself under the ladder next to the ridge
4) NPC will climb the ladder to jump on you but instead fall to the ridge

suitable for low level character
*
if u rise your SL high and go thru the game will kill the challange of it. In addition, not all will chase after you... mage, thief and archer will not chase after you. make sure you found the hidden bonfire else you will be traveling very far from blacksmith.

i wouldn't farm such way, 1st kill the fun of the game. 2nd travel to Sif is very far even from hidden bonfire, bypass those guardian need lots of stamina to run thru the forest to next forest, so join the forest hunter makes things easier when you fight Sif.

I think the only difference is that chaos weapons damage scale with your humanity (up to 10 if not mistaken). Fire weapons do not scale but they can be +10, unlike chaos weapons which can only +5.

I tested both types with a same weapon, chaos deals more damage (not much though) when you have humanity. If you die a lot and always unable to retrieve bloodstain, just use a Fire weapon +10, the damage difference is not that huge anyway. I still prefer Quelaag Sword for fire weapon mainly because it looks cooler (lol).

clear catacomb get fire weapon but haven't fight boss yet... change destination to anor londo and find giant blacksmith and get quelaag furysword drool.gif

still not sure whether should change new convenent..

The mage and thief will chase after you, in addition to the mace and axe (I think?) user.

think i have to re-phrase... mage (sometimes) and thief will not be dumb enough to drop from the cliff. priest, warrior, knight will chase after you and drop off the cliff.

for 2 time i provoke them and let them drop except thief and mage didn't take the bait... 3rd time i engage them all face to face except archer since couldn't find her and Ent very disturbing.

there is no constraint on level up and how you want to defeat bosses. either you can be patient slowly damage the boss till he die or just level up and make the battle easy. prolong the battle will be dangerous as you have limited healing pot...

^ make sure you have rusted ring (found in undead asylum, revisit) equipped to easy move around in the mud area else you will be moving like slow turtle... and spider shield (optional, inside depth with a big rat inside, or start your char with barbarian) if you have. weapon wise is not important, drake sword will be sufficient to keep you alive.

One guy completed Dark Souls with SL1 play through. He also videoed the whole thing.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/dark-soul...-completed.html

While this is my 1st time playthrough and clocked in 20 hours already. Probably still using the conventional RPG method like levelling up so can take on monsters easier but definitely not in Dark Souls coz even after levelling up, still get whacked by monsters kau kau. So far only difficulty i had is the hydra at ash lake which I itchy finger wasted 600 arrows on it.

Yesterday night, knocked out Queelag in 3 tries (again camera control got me stuck in the bloody lava), as well as the ceaseless discharge. Seriously i'm getting fond of this game as can't describe the fear emotions when playing this (even worse than Dead Space 2). Lucky Ceaseless discharge was an easy bro though when I got whacked 90% of my hp when running away I almost panicked. This game also make me very aware of the footsteps and sound cues so I can jump or roll out of the way.

Gonna break for a while until Sunday, when I'll be trudging back to the Undead Asylum. Time to convert all those dung pies tongue.gif
*
hydra isn't that hard... just run towards it and stand near the edge somewhere middle of the pond (equip rusted ring). it wont be able to hit you and it when get frustrated, it will hit it's head on the ground laugh.gif then u start attack. wait till you face Sif at darkroot garden and stray demon in revisited undead asylum. but of course there are more stronger boss i haven't encounter yet tongue.gif

perhaps i wanna try new my character with SL 1 only laugh.gif normal enemy and mini boss may still able to defeat them, but defeat boss is kinda challenging like Sif, quelaag and stray demon can't pro-long the battle too long, else you will be in disadvantage situation, especially you can't afford to make mistake or rely on block... so evasion must be good.

Thanks for the tip. Read about that as Ornstein is real killer in NG+
Ring of Fog can't get it so early unless I get the bloody Skull Lantern. Saw that trick on Youtube. Have to rush up the structure. Lock on the sniper, then lock off once switched to sword and run back quickly. This is more action game then RPG.

Can kill Smough / Ornstein with arrows? Serious? Cool gonna look out for this. Then maybe not so hard after all *LOL*.
*
can... upgrade your crossbow/ bow but will take quite sometime to kill it. Previously i saw someone experiment with melee and range to test on these 2 boss.

YES!!! Finally whack both bosses thanks to a Mr Janemba which I summon for help. I just shoot my fire orbs & balls while he tank it out for me. That's after getting help from 2 other NPCs earlier that failed.

Can't imagine the relief after that. Now don't know what to do or where to go next  rclxub.gif

Maybe just spend some time grinding souls / shards / and upgrade some of my weapons. Btw, I want to tackle Havel. Any particular tips?
*
havel at havel's tower with a big club? that guy is slow, not that slow though tongue.gif you can defeat him like how you defeat a dark knight... he have some "rest time" after slam his club iinm... strike during that period. always circle around him if you wanna do backstab, but always backstab makes the battle boring

Sif so hard to beat, any tips
*
watch youtube video for tips... practice makes perfect... it take me 20++ attempt to kill Sif tongue.gif i defeat him at SL36. just watch out for his dash and slash (avoid it by run toward him and roll forward with correct timing) and upward slash/ downward slam. with 20 endurance you can barely block his 1st attack and the next will kill you. nice boss to fight with.

you can use the terrain for your advantage. there are few terrain are slightly lower, where his dash and slash will miss easily, but dun rely on it too much.
