bro...

maybe get a kapchai 1st...to learn how to balance a bike, riding technique etc... at least for 6 months ++. why i say kapchai and not a kips, cbr or FZ, is because this is more cost effective and easier to sell off or trade in... cause you alr know your long term plan..so try to get a clutch cub, use for a while... then sell it off get your 250...i think you will be happy with the 250...cause quite nice n fun to ride.

straight away get a 250 also can...but u need to practise riding clutch bike 1st, so that you dont get overwhelmed

then get the 250 ninja. awesome balanced bike, good handling just nice amount of power... if one day oyu have mastered this, then you can upgrade ..

the best beginner sport bike i will say ER6F... after you feel you have mastered the ER6 ...you can confidently choose bro.

Good point by sarawakian - about getting B2 first. But i already pay for B full. Initially i want to get the < 250cc license first - but fren say take B full terusla...After going to circuit i realize that i need basics like mastering titi with small bike first. So i'm stuck now-have to go b fulll.

So one person so far  suggest kawa 250, one suggest kapchai/kips 150cc...Again if kapchai - i dunno, suzuki shogun sp seem to fit the bill, but poor resale value if i wanna trade up. Yamaha LC also i believe got kickstart and clutch, good resale value, but 'hot' bike for thiefz

Sidestory for ur entertainment:
Meanwhile i decide to get some gear - being newbie don't want my skin to peel of in the first day.
I look at various forums etc for good quality stuff - but most shops sell accessories like a part time income. I got arai helmet (rm 80) but realize i need to buy plastic visor (newbie rite). paid rm 15 for plastic visor, then realized it is non flippable. Anyway because of this i wanted to find proper accessory shop. After much looking found one shop in sunway - got a kushitani jacket rm 3++, and gloves. For kapchai/kips level this is enough maa...Funny riding kapchai with nolan helmet-dainese jacket-sidi boot (by the way all 3 would probably cost equal to a brand new KIPS). Quite happy with my apparel.
Today supposed to go train in the circuit - but saw the dark clouds at the edges of KL - maybe on saturday i will go for 'the battle of titi'.
At the moment all fren bawak car - except one guy - need to hunt him down for kapchai trial...

bro try get 2nd hand cub... anything within ur budget. go to mudah just to get a rough estimate what the value of the bike is and go to those motorbike shops and look for a 2nd hand bike also...LC quite powerful for a cub..can easily whack the FZ150 ...tested before.

regarding the helmet...normally comes together with visor unless you want tinted one. Rm80 is confirm knock off but its ok for the time being until you upgrade get a good full face according to budget. dont forget a good raincoat ya? agv etc.

jacket also up to you as long as got acceptable protection is good, again back to budget. about shoes not necessary get those racing boots...wear proper tracking leather shoe, high cut also very good already..waterproof some more..thats what i wear..

and like bro sarawakian said - once you ride big bikes cars mean nothing ....(except when it rains) wink.gif

so far i've been to one shop, described my situation, they suggest:
1. an old yamaha ss 110 rm 1300 - looks run down - mechanic said 'use clutch also can, you don't use clutch oso gear masuk!'
2. a suzuki RG i believe rm 2800 - with 'race clutch' - looks a bit better on the outside compared to the yamaha.
I need to survey couple more shops...
I dunno what to check to avoid shop cheating me, issues are as follows:
1. when buying 2nd/1st hand, what to bring - obviously cash in pocket/3 month salary slip - but for 2nd hand kapchai i can arrange cash. Other than that what else - IC and license i suppose.
2. things to check in the 2nd hand bike - since i'm new, this is a drawback- i don't want breakdown everyday.
3.  to avoid the issue in no.2 above, if i buy new, then i have to think of model with decent 2nd hand value, avoiding theft etc - i'm feeling giddy already, need to take one step at a time... rclxub.gif
*
1.that is called clutch 'mati' i dont suggest you get this as it defeats the purpose.

2.i always like RG's.

for the bike...since its short term i doubt you be facing any major issues and bikes are quite hardcore... just look out for signs of leakage, smoke and misfiring etc...i think license also no need bro..now its self u can buy the bike since cash.

just get a good disc lock or padlock la bro....no matter how you lock up your bike big or small...if somebody wants to steal it..they will get it... so some basic preventative measures is ok....other than that all luck and gods and hands...don think too much...

Still.. JAM or RAIN  hmm.gif

kalau balik rumah redah je lah, got rain coat even better!

May i suggest for a fullface helmet which will cost you rm500 below, sirim and dot approval, SOL helmet, am using 1. =)
Could get it cheaper if you know the place.  nod.gif

hahahahah u da man la bro....you are right....during jams, you feel super awesome...and when pumping petrol you also feel super awesome....

as long as got raincoat good one...rain not so much of an issue..just that at times a bit annoying la ...cause cars drive a bit reckless during rain.

yeah SOL, LS2 are quite good budget full faced helmets... im using LS2.

will buy Nolan or Caberg in SG soon.

I pump petrol 3 times when I ride down to Singapore. Each time about RM15~18. Dont feel very super -.-

I never ever used a raincoat... been thru downpour so heavy until i stop at rest area, take out my boots and pour out a cup of water.

As for helmet, try an Arai or Shoei, once u tried them you will find nolan lacking, not that its a bad helmet. I have a Nolan N60 and an AGV paid around RM600~800 for them each. But once I got my Arai... there is no goign back.
*
bro, 3 times rm18..only rm54...u try taking car and see and include toll? my bike pump 2 times more than enough..reach jb still got close to half tank.

i always use a raincoat as this is my daily ride and i hate stopping by waiting under bridges etc...

helmet according to budget la bro, once i save enough ill try it out.

haihhs...you are right bro...i am using LS2 for the time being..

there are certain situations a helmet can save your life or cant do anything at all...as you mentioned...end of the day its in god hands. so we just do the best we can..i belive LS2 has good quality but its heavy...the cushions/pads are quite good...the material of the helmet also good... only thing weight is there...thats why cheaper... but overall its quite ok.

sorry to hear bout ur friend bro...ride safe

Added on October 20, 2011, 10:58 amand actually alot of ppl say wearing full face on kapchai looks funny...but you should not care...which is worse?

ppl saying look funny on a bike?

or not having a face?

my bro till today wears a Nolan on his scooter. same helmet for his Versys. and he was the one who ask me the question above. so even on my 125z and tzm i used full face...till today...those who say look funny is just being childish...

Well.. i'm a proponent for fullface helmet
1) I dont wanna eat bugs
2) First time i fell off my bike, i landed face down, the scratches infront of my AGV helmet reminded me constantly the reaosn I still have a face.
*
x2.

youll be amazed how many bugs can land in your eye & mouth...esp if you're riding at night

and i too haev fell face down before and my wonderful helmet protected my mouth from tearing apart as the mouth area of the helmet was scratched pretty badly. and my gloves protected my palm, and my hiking shoe protected my feet...i wasnt wearing my jacket... so both elbows scratched...but was ok la in general...

i've been riding 125z and comfortable with its clutch..but heard somewhere that its harder to control clutch on big bikes. neway, thanks for your advice..

Nice dude! how was your experience?
*
bro i think you can go ahead...the 250 still light bike...i think same like riding tzm...

i jumped from tzm to er6f...for the first few weeks ride slow...understand the bike...get used to the weight, power and size...since you'll be running in period...by the time its over youll be ready.. smile.gif

no point you waste money buy 250...then get 750...same thing...still need time to adjust to the z750..

the clutch same...no big diff. just need time adjust to the weight and throttle response and handling..once you understand the bike....you start pushing to its max potential....once u reach that point..ull start to realize you can tame the power....and start the upgrade bug biggrin.gif hehehehe drool.gif rclxm9.gif

hi all, holiday greetings

Trigger pulled.
order made. tongue.gif
pics soon.
blue krr 150.
Expected to arrive by this friday...
(it looked quite bulky in width compared to say rxz but since ultimately i wanna get bigger bike, got to start with this - did not do any test ride with this bike - hope all is ok).

Now i'm quite worried about security as i stay in highrise with bikes parked below.
what kind of SECURITY can i arrange for my bike?
Is there any cheap GPS transmitted that can be attached to the bike with link to a smartphone to trace it in case it is taken?
Also any good shops selling bike security devices?
thanks guys, cheers.

congrats broo... thumbup.gif

locks, disc lock..and loud alarm siren. you can also get those disc locks called Xena if im not mistaken, that has an inbuilt alarm... this can be used when you upgrade later on also. GPS not cheap la bro...last time i heard, got one guy, leave a cheap phone in his car .. then when it gets stolen, he just does that search my phone thing... and found his car...hahahha...

No, at the moment i'm not in condo type. it's 'open air'...no guards.
Both the above posters have 600cc kawa which i think not many thiefs interested.
But yamaha LC/honda cub hot
the kawa 150cc i ordered also considered quite hot for thiefs.
600cc bikes, superbikes etc i think thiefs have no much incentive to steal.
i better pray to all the gods.

ps - recently my bro car got broken into, caught the guy red handed, cctv footage also got, but eventually the thief (drug addict) got released within 1 week i believe. now i understand why the public just beats up the thiefs before handing to authorities. but drug addicts - they aren't usually rational so nothing could stop them i believe.
*
hmmm i think you should get the disc lock bro..the one with alarm.. go mudah see Xena alarm, then install the armed alarm with a siren....this is all i can think off...instead of spending the money on gps phone etc. you get this 2 alarm...let it scream and prevent the bike from being stolen....
