Hi my friends, could u help me get me out of this snag

after so many days of online researching for the best 2.1 PC speaker system within my budget of RM800, i came up with 2 competitors in my list. One is the Altec Lansing Expressionist Ultra MX6021 and the other one is Logitech Z623.

Which one is better? I find both the specs within both speaker models r similar. Only thing i can do now is to go to the nearest IT shop to feel n hear the sound quality for with my own ears. I'm looking forward to having a new speaker system by next week.

But before that, could u help me read the specs n tell me which aspect of the specs that shows the difference between the 2 models? This is my first time into audio passion. I'm starting to hav a passion for audio n looking forward to start off my passion with a good n powerful speaker system.

Really appreciate your help. Thank u. happy.gif

but Altec Lansing has more dedication to audio technology where as Logitech is more for minor electronics such as keyboards n mouses... so, i presumed that the sound produced by Altec Lansing speakers should be more better than Logitech... yawn.gif

Dunno about the other comments about the MX6021,
But I bought it for my office and it sounds really awesome..
dont have any fake or plastic sound. It looks nice and big too which matches and fits my 6 feet table.
Just the damn short cables. Its only good for desks!

Maybe you all didnt adjust the bass and treble properly or you guys using the MX6021 very loud.
Thats why you get some bad bass or not good quality.
But bass cannot fight the Edifier R501 at all.. R501 for bass is just too awesome!
I dont like the bass of the Z623 doesnt sound nice to me at all.
MX6021 is not a thub thumping bassy unit. Its more for nice gentle music smile.gif

Sengkin95, if you like listening to music more and medium general gaming like i do the MX6021 will fit your description. But if you are a hardcore gamer just go for something with more bassy other brands.
If you are watching movies more then go for Logitech THX speakers they would perform better. MX6021 is more of an all rounder it doesnt sound as good as my Soundsticks III but it does pack more bass and makes MP3 sound more crispier. Playing music on youtube sounds lovely too.

I brought a few clients over to my office and after they heard the quality of the MX6021 they told me that was the best PC sound they ever heard up to date. Of course i was playing with some Jazz music and some 80s pop hits.
They were very impressed with the Sound Aura being able to generate in front of the notebook and rather from the speakers.

Volume knob and all my items are all working fine. No loose or spoilt functions till today. It took a day to get use to the crappy control.. but after you understand it, you will hardly use it.. you only need to OFF and ON when you adjusted all things carefully.

Not being biase, but I did test the Z623 speakers they look quite ugly and not really good looking... yes they have THX but you are bound to find a better looking set next time after you buy this.. as for me I like something that looks good and of course must sound good with my Jazz music to last me for years.. I dont like going to shops every now and then and looking for better and better speakers.

Just my thoughts. Its your decision.

to be honest, REALLY HONEST, i dont quite like the design of the Logitech Z623... the weird speaker design doesnt have the appearance of class... plus the subwoofer is so bulky... where as mx6021 has that appearance of sound class plus the subwoofer, although it is slight bulkier than the logitech Z623 subwoofer, my desk has the height to complement the subwoofer...

although a lot of people wrote more positive reviews on the Z623... my heart tells me to stick with MX6021... i saw videos of sound test performed by the 2 speakers... i found them to be surprising... but a lot of people wrote saying that MX6021 has really bad sound distortion at high volumes but how high until it will get that bad?... im just an ordinary PC user... not intending to hav a rock party in my room...

wat's more... im a person who plays hardcore games n heavy metal... so i would want to feel the more power from the bass of the subwoofern the sound from the satellites speakers as well... but with a budget of RM800... i am down to either Z623 or MX6021...

anyhow, i will find my winner when i go to ALL IT Hypermarket at IPC this saturday... thx for yr comment babyakuma... really appreciate it... smile.gif

no problem glad to help out a fellow lowyat friend.
go test nicely and get the best sound staging which suites your preference.
but remember in All IT the hall is bigger so if the sound sounds good there
when you go home the sound will be even better, if your PC is in the room.

Cheers!

my room is just a standard house bedroom... so i hope that if i can feel the thud of the bass at ALL IT... it would be more powerful due to the smaller size of the room... biggrin.gif

another question... wat is response bandwidth? most speakers specs i read include this aspect of the spec? for example mx6021 delivers 40Hz to 20kHz... n altec lansing octane 7 has system bandwidth of 40Hz to 15kHz... wat does this mean? would appreciate yr answer.. smile.gif
