There's a Successful trade list created...but there's a lot of unwanted rubbish message, each member should only post only once in there.

Again and again, i still see lots of lousy seller at here.
There's no hard and fast rule on how to trade safely...it depends on individual. For me, i won't spend a single cent to trade if i feel it is not secure.

Most of the posting at handphone garage sales, i don't even bother to read for >2seconds if the information is incomplete...
I won't trade(buy from seller) that 'meet' the following criterias
- Strictly no COD- Posting information is inaccurate/incomplete(I have seen alot of the seller, types only few words, XXX product for sale, sms 014-55201314. WTF is this advertisement?? There's a ready made template for you, you only need to key in more information(item details, wrty, package contents, dealing method, contact and shipping details, etc).
- Bank in name does not match with seller name
- Product pricing. (Example: Oh yeah, today i bought myself a W850i, weeks later, i am interested to let it go...only rm30 cheaper than the market price??)
- Fishy posting, eg: brand new handphone selling price lower than the cost price...?? Lots of youngster borned with 'golden key', trading blindly and finally get conned. It's their money so i canNot do anything with it, i suggest them pay me the money and 1year later, i return them the money with interest given(capital guarantee and interest given)..haha...
- Negotiation style(Example: price rm500 state on the post(it doesn't state firm/negotiable...so i PM the seller rm450. It's actually a k750 AP, 1year++, no more wrty...fuiyyoo..the seller reply back, KUALA LUMPUR people offer rm500 LA....another lousy salesperson who won't get success in their sales journey..)

just my rm0.0002.

Started Oct 12 2005 and thread is still here. If anyone's reading this, here's my opinion:

Two problems, two solutions.

Problem 1: Conman

Make the sellers apply for 'Details Verified' status.
Sellers will need to submit copies of IC and bank account book/statement, both stating the same name.
Buyers should be made aware that for safety sake, only bank in to the account(s) submitted by seller.

Problem 2: Rating
Just select the best solution as suggested in previous posts.
Or maybe just stick with the successful trade list.

Actually LYN dun need to take any extra responsibilities.

It's just like the sellers using the documents to apply for a tag. Something like the safe trade tag. Difference is their 'verified' bank account number will be shown in the tag/profile.

So if something happens, LYN can at least provide the buyer with the documents (which will include IC number, address in IC and address from bank book/statement). Follow-up actions will then depend on the buyer. LYN job done.

Added on February 27, 2007, 12:51 pm* Sellers sending in documents for verification should 'watermarked' the documents properly. LYN no responsibility.

* Unverified sellers can still sell. The risk is on buyers. LYN no responsibility.

* Verified sellers can ask buyers to bank-in to other accounts. The risk is on buyers. LYN no responsibility.

* Buyer got conned by verified sellers. LYN just provide documents. No other responsibilities.

* Come to think of it, LYN can even charge a minor processing fee such as RM1 or RM2 for application. It's the charges for processing and safekeeping the documents. No other responsibilities.

yeah...i'm agree with what you mention all about....that's good ideal, I prefer if let others buyers....even newbie always can be believe on our seller....I always hope that all buyers can buy from seller with confidence even by post.
And I think, once the seller got any bad feedback, then in forum I think the name/ID will be popular....hehe....so even he/she want to re-register again, then IC should be duplicated....then...conman hard need to find other way to re-register all again.... smile.gif

QUOTE(marquis @ Oct 13 2005, 12:16 AM)
use a point system?

for example,
if a seller follows through with a deal, he gets a point.
seller ffk, minus a lot of points.
if he was early, an extra point.
if he was late, minus a point.
product exactly as said, plus a point.
product defers from what was advertised minus a point.
good after sales service, plus a lot of points.
any problem caused by the seller in anyway, minus points too.
late delivery minus points

that way, the seller would have to be polite. not like some of the sellers here, selling items as though the buyers are the beggars.

for buyers should have a similar point system too.

if such a system could be implemented, i am sure half of the sellers here would have to change their attitudes. and the other half have better sales.

special commentes should also be in the first post for particularly rude sellers. it's time that malaysia get used to the idea that the customer is always right

special comments too really helpful sellers too. to name a few, i wld say hungary, blinky, auctionfan and enna. i dont buy anything from them, but from what i see, they seem to handle inquiries pretty well. the same cant be said about other sellers. (hey if i didn't mention you doesn't mean you're rude though-siapa termakan cili dia terasa pedas tongue.gif)

just my thoughts anyway biggrin.gif

By chance I clicked on this thread and wow, you quoted something I said TWO years ago! I find that rather ammusing laugh.gif

Anyway, to those saying that the mods/admin aren't taking a more active role etc etc blah blah blah, do note that this is a TECH forum to discus TECH-y things with the purpose of sharing/discussing information. The garage sales is just a side thingy. Let us not lose track of the main purpose of this forum. LYN is not Lelong, not eBay or whatever other online auction/buy sell site.

We're an online community that love techie stuff and discuss techie stuff. From the computer and it's peripherals to the mobile phones and it's many accessories. So yes, I reiterate by saying "Let us not forget what LYN stands for".

Considering what the mods and admins have done to keep trade safe here, we should be congratulating and thanking them instead. Most of those in charge don't even get payed to do all this. They're just lending a helping hand. What do we repay them with? Saying they're not doing their job and calling them names. I notice one particular attention whore who posts useless crap in the forum (with the pretense of "sharing" information) and berates the moderator for enforcing the rules which he violated. Show some manners people!

But I digress. It's cool to discuss ideas, but let's not tax the mods/admins/staff eh? They've done a great job as it is. Let's discuss constructive things. Don't just diss them.

Then again, I'm sure my post would neither be read nor acknowledge but instead be pushed up by ignorant spams of

"Lelong is better!"
"Why don't the mods do something!"
"Let's just do away with the forum concept and start a lelong-look-alike!"

etc etc.

Sigh. What happened to this forum?
