I know there is already a salary thread but it is mostly for people to talk about their own salaries and since there are many young workers, we do not have an indication of what senior managers are earning. Why do we want to know? Because, it helps us to plan our career ahead.

It would be nice if you specify the age, industry and position of the person. And, of course, include the salary too. Please do not guess. It must be quite reliable.

Reliable sources often can come from relatives/siblings/friends/colleagues or even HR department in any company. We need more transparency.

If possible, please do not include those CEOs of public companies with pay package running into millions per annum.

Strictly salaries only. No business income.

Here we go.

Age: 53
Industry: IT

age: 30-40
industry : O&G
position: manager positions
income : rm 25k-30k per month

These are connected people in O&G firms without real skillset or job function. They just attend meetings, walk around Tower in slippers and go home early.

After reading some of the replies, i see so many jobs paying so well, but we still hear so many rakyat complaints about low salary in malaysia, cannot buy house, and cannot survive living in the city. But the fact is that, we are earning so much that and we become greedy and continue complaint that we earn not enough even though making more than 10k per month.... rclxub.gif

Just because of a few examples above , you make such conclusion meh....majority of the work force are not high salary earners....as megahertz said, take a look at the ratio....

i think the highest pay within government is just rm25k (base pay), which is for the PM position

rm50k is most likely inclusive of songlap money la

Shell's old salary structure was the following

Manager (JG4): 13-15.5k per month
Operations Manager (JG3): 15.5-18k per month
Senior Managers (JG2): 22.5-28k per month

This has changed over the years though.

Very similar to my company's current Malaysia pay scale. The ranges are nearly spot on. Just titles are slightly different.

JG4 is more or less Senior Exec/Specialist/Analyst/Account Manager.
JG3 is Manager.
JG2 is Senior Manager.

The American petrochemical companies have fairly similar structures. As long as you're part of the core mother company... ie. employed by the holding company or a 100% owned subsidiary that's directly managed by global mgt... ie. not a empowered local organisation with lots of local management (ie. have a local CEO, local CFO, local board of directors whose accountability to global is only profit), not a service center/call center/some sort of XXX Services Sdn Bhd etc.

hmm, your reply sounds a bit like ayat tergantung....let me guess, as long as the person is hired under global management, then his pay will be more higher. Unless the US MNC company has localized the management, the salary structure will basically the same as those china man company or malay enterprises ?

you are which company ?

For everyone that earns 7K or above there are another 100 that earns less than 1K a month. Think about that. Not everyone in our country is privileged enough to have gone through colleges or Unis. These pay are those graduated and for every graduate, how many are dropouts, how many are SPM holders. The ratio could be 1 : 50 or even more. Check our those who works as sales assistants in Jusco, their pay is only RM750 a month. Don't believe, check it out yourself. Econsave and Giant. The Cs tend to go for promoter jobs and their average take home pay is 1.2K to 1.5K. Factory workers, those in the low rung civil services. Even average hawkers earns an average of 2K monthly for a husband and wife team.

After 37 comments and you made a sweeping conclusion. rclxub.gif

Now JG4 denotes managerial/senior engineer position, depending whether you are upstream or downstream. The ceiling is 21k/month, so go figures for the rest of the JG

Again, what's the purpose of this topic again?!....

So if we know which industry and which position, so what?!

If you''re already working, you're stuck in your same industry. If you're in that industry, you would obviously know what the seniors are earning. If you have yet to know what the seniors are roughly earning, that proves you're not in the industry long enough and are just starting.

If that's the case, then stop day dreaming about how much one is going to earn in the future. Instead pick up your own pace and start work hard/smart.

Seriously I do not see the need of this topic. Until one can convince me otherwise, this topic is closed. The pinned topic on salary doesn't restrict to your comments on your own-self salary.
