mine 2.3.6...successful rooting via doomlord v3...

just received my jig today, maybe if i'm in the mood, i will start to venture into real flashing..lols

i think the "universal androot" will not work on our device as this method is already outdated and even at that time, it still wont support our device

only either doomlord(zergrush) , superoneclick(zergrush) or rooted kernel can accomplish rooting in our device for this moment

so far none, i've tried even superoneclick but still without success.
i've been planning to do the 2nd method

why the lose of apps? only flashing kernels, so other apps should be untouched. only the binary counter and yellow triangle will appear

i have the jig already, in the new bootloader, the jig seems to be working for removing the yellow triangle but not the binary counter.

other than jig, method reflashing the stock kernel also ca remove the yellow triangle.

i've extracted the zImage kernel from 2.3.6 and tar the file so the file can be flashed per Odin, and i've asked one of the seniors at XDA and he said my method should be working, but of course i still dont test it myself.

Finally after read over this thread I managed to root without any problem..(Even took 2 days to succeed)

currently learning to deploy my own custom rom.

btw, 1.2ghz when charging and 1ghz when not charging, that is why samsung names the kernel profile as "hotplug".

so far i am satisfied with this profile, even i underclock it to 600mhz or 800mhz, much better for my battery )

It's my first android phone, i switched to this phone after 3 years spent on iphone 3g. I am in China, and being cut from all google services is really annoying. My G only have the possibilities for chinese accounts, since i'm not chinese, this is rather hard for me, my only option is a clean root to enable android market, then install all google services, usage of a vpn required for that...
Despite this huge lack, i can find apk easily and install apps without troubles. This phone is really powerfull. I'm not looking for a custom rom, samsung touchwiz is really comfortable and easy to use. All i want is to use google services, but that need root, and i can't manage to root it so far :'(

samsung is always a b*tch with the GPS, u need to use something like "GPS status" or "gpsfix" to get locked first before running other GPS apps like papago and etc

lols, someone is waiting, i thought it just for personal use as it is not so superior compared to others..lols.. i am just learning here too..
