upgrading to latest firmware DZKJ3 using Kies at the moment. There's no need to backup anything right?

It's better to backup anyway. I tried to use Odin to upgrade, and after the phone restarted, all my settings and data are still there though.

Too late for that now. At the moment can only pray and hope it still there tongue.gif
*pray hard for the over 1GB games I've downloaded in this week*

as long as u dont do "factory data reset", data should be there.

That's reassuring, thanks.

By the way, my phone already in download mode for about 10 minutes or so now. How much longer it need for the upgrade to be complete?

maybe it is downloading the rom? because the rom itself is quite large and normally take quite long with our "beruk"band internet.

that is why i prefer download the rom manually and flash it with odin. anytime i can do the update if i want to reset or anything
*
Oh, really ah? how big is the file normally? already past 2 hours mark now...*sigh*

I thought it doesn't matter how you updating it. Now I know why everyone is saying that Kies is suck a**..hopefully. it still be completed no matter how long it takes and just not hang in the middle of the process. What happen if the connection is not stable? If the connection my wifi disconnect and connect will it disrupt the process?

Added on January 25, 2012, 11:30 amOk, something I fear is happening. I only realize that someone been messing with usb connection. Probably my idiot brother who want to play this thing. Now it stuck on downloading mode. What should I do? Is it safe to turn it off or remove the battery..?

False alarm. After removing the battery and turn it on again, its business as usual. Lesson learned, after this will update firmware using Odin.
