Well for what's at experimental stage, it's 90% done and 110% already better over the official fw. Flashed the fw then tried rooting method 2 gave me a ridiculous startup crash issue (a la dzkl3's) but I do suspect that stock fw and Go don't play well together. Annoyed the crap out of me till I jumped the gun and did CM9 Res. Happy even as I'm setting everything up all over again.

so do i update it to stock ics with kies first then root then flash custom rom or i root first? pardon me, too much info i also confused which to follow... |

Method 3 : 1 + 2, no yellowtriangle or binary count increasement 1. Do method 2 first. 2. Download LP7 codeworkx, extract and put the zimage inside root sdcard 3. Install ktool, flash the zimage. 4. Hi all - want to ask if DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit v4 will work with the latest ICS4.03 to unroot the I9100G?
Anyone tried? Thanks in advance. |

I've read through many forums and messages and I just want to make sure:
It is not possible to root i9100G 2.3.6 (2.6..35.7 kernel) using doomlords method, because the exploit used there has been fixed in that Android version, right? Could you please confirm this? Therefore, I have the option of flashing a rooted kernel. I read this is a bit more dangerous. Also, in "Full Guide for i9100G.pdf" it says "Binary counter can only be reset with USB jig and only from old bootloader (KJ2 and lower)". Could you explain to me the yellow riangle and the binary counter, how to avoid and what "old bootloader KJ2 and lower" means. Sorry, I don't have DZKI1 and so on (I9100GXXKL4 and Gingerbread.XXLB1). Thank you. |

QUOTE(bingdu @ Jun 1 2012, 08:48 PM) I've read through many forums and messages and I just want to make sure: well we are all now using LP7u kernel as ICS firmware was just released. if you still want to stay on GB, you can root using ODIN, with the many kernels available for GB, lucifer, streetware, superRom etc. if i remember correctly, flashing with mobile odin pro doesnt increase the counter, but do research more on that. i have a usb jig, so i normally use odin on desktopIt is not possible to root i9100G 2.3.6 (2.6..35.7 kernel) using doomlords method, because the exploit used there has been fixed in that Android version, right? QUOTE(-kytz- @ Jun 2 2012, 02:23 PM) Thanks to bindgu explanation (a few posts above) - we wont be able to since on ICS4.0.3 (DXLP6 firmware) it is running 3.0.8 kernel. Looks like have to use older method and will result in increase in binary count ..... unless you are still on GB |

Oh no!!! I didn't do this. I terus update only its highly recommended to do a FULL WIPE before flashing ICS.boot into recovery Wipe Cache, Clear Dalvik. After you have flashed LP7, wipe cache, dalvik and factory reset again..then flash CM9 restoring apps with TB might cause some issues with some apps. Badkidz, as i know only LP7 kernel is available DXLP6 This post has been edited by -kytz-: Jun 2 2012, 02:12 PM |

i've tried rooting using doomlord's method, does not work. in the end, i've flashed modded kernel using odin, yes, now my binary count has increased.
i think the best to avoid binary increase is to reflash ur current stock ics to gb and root using doomlord and put in the cwm as described in the pdf. i haven't tried this yet... but as long as you have the cwm inside, u're good to flash custom ics dy. or if you're not too concerned with the binary (until the day u nid to send ur phone for warranty), u can just flash the modded kernel with cwm and then flash the custom ics. let me know if you needed the steps i've used. thanks to wira_lover for the steps previously |
